Question about Sewing Machines

Can't find a model number in order to find a manual

I bought a used industrial machine from a sewing machine store. It is old and was sold as a Consew. I am trying to locate a manual to make sure everything is threaded correctly, etc but no luck as I can't find out if it is a Consew or the model number. I do have all of the numbers form the metal plate on the machine back but the head has no brand name on it. 409353 438-771/01 6N03-AS x4 5 x1 5 n 25

Some times I find what I need at this site. They may have a machine that is similar enough to get it right. Check the threading link.

Is it a good idea to buy a second-hande Elna sewing machine 6003 model?

besides being a old model, you also must think about getting
parts for the machine if that becomes neccessary.
and sometimes parts are hard to come by and some times there
are no parts.
it would be a better idea to get a newer model sewing machine, one
that is being sold by the elna agency in Africa, that way there
should be a better chance of getting parts.

I need a manual

Which brand and model do you have? Singer has many of their manuals (Singer or White brands) for sale or download at http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals . For Janome, Bernina or Husqvarna Viking manuals, ask at a dealer. Many of the older manuals may be free - at least for Bernina manuals. Brother has a some of their manuals on their support site: http://www.brother-usa.com/manuals/#.T2e8Wdk_9G8 . Use the drop-down menu to select Home or Industrial Sewing machine and then look for the model. A machine sold at Sears (such as the Kenmore line) may have the manual at Manage My Life: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals . Unfortunately, they don't have many of their older sewing machine manuals online.

There are also sewing machine parts sites that may have the manuals for sale.

Please add a comment with the make and model of your sewing machine and I'll try to provide more information.

Yamata fy 5318 manual

I just received my FY5318. The manual has OK diagrams, but the text is Chinese. The Consew 205RB-1 is the same exact machine as the FY5318 and comes with the same manual but translated into English. It is downloadable from the Consew website.

Hi. I have a Pfaff Industrial Sewing machine Model nr: 38-6 and the manual got lost in the 2nd world war. I think my dad bought it in 1930. Can I still get a manual for it?

Ahh, this comes about a year after your posting. The Pfaff 38-6 is a true gem. If you have any interest in sewing, don't let it go! I have an embarassingly large number of sewing machines and kept searching for the perfect one to do medium duty sewing. I found a 38-6 on Craigslist for $40 with treadle table and grabbed it. Best thing I've ever done re sewing. It is a commercial tailor's machine made before WW2 and sews the best of any of my domestic machines. It is my 'go to' machine for all but heavy sewing when I go to my industrial machines.

As to your question about a manual, I have a German language one that is only helpful for the photos and tables. I will make a pdf for you if that would help. It uses the standard domestic 130 needles which are also the Singer 15x1 needles. Please let me know what I can do to help you preserve and use this great machine...Dave

I have an industrial singer model:cs-4002-6. HOW MUCH IS IT WORTH

Value depends greatly on location and condition. Shipping a machine used machine is usually not cost effective due to weight. I often see this type of machine in working condition with table and motor sell for under $200. Kind of tragic when you consider what it sold for originally. To determine demand in your area, look on Craig's list for industrial sewing machines and remember that older machines are less desirable than Juki, Consew or other modern copies due to parts availability.
