Question about Toshiba 46HM95 46" HDTV

Vertical lines across the screen

I bought a Toshiba 46HM95 about 1.75 years ago. After 1 year my lamp dimmed and then exploded. Toshiba sent me a replacement lamp that was installed 6 months ago. Everything was working fine until this morning when vertical lines appeared evenly spaced across the screen. I called Toshiba and they told me that they dont know what it is and then gave me a number for a local service center. Is there a simple solution to solve this problem or will it require major mechanical repairs?

I now have the same problem. Lines are on the left side of the screen almost have way across the screen, with a thicker line int he middle which is the same length. It started last week and stopped after fiddling with it. Now it comes on fine then about 5 min . in the lines appear. I have had the tv for 1.75 years myself and have had to deal with bulbs popping numerous times (3). Was this the same as yours? Did solutions work? Please do tell.

Toshiba 52hm95 lamp breaks after only weeks of use

It is as far as the set is concerned, it sees the lamp not on.

Most likely cause would be the lamp ballast that drives the lamp.

Lamp light flashes and tv won't come on

It could be the lamp depending on the replacement you installed. Some of the Generic last a year or less--original or OEM have a 2,000 hour life and that determined by how much set is on.

First thing to look at is lamp.

NOTE: at the time this set was made in the menu was a Quick on feature---it runs the lamp all the time(when set is off it dims down but does not go out) THIS FEATURE WILL IF ENGAGED DRASTICALLY SHORTEN THE LIFE OF THE LAMP not to mention using more electrical power in your home.

The bulb in my Toshiba 56hm195 exploded and over the last year about once a week when I turn the TV on the picture will show and then the TV will reboot itslef two or three times. Do I just need a new bulb...

You need to replace the Lamp. There shouldn't be a picture showing if the lamp exploded, however. You can do a simple check by pulling the lamp out and inspecting it.

Unfortunately lamps go bad without the visible state of being bad. I don't know who or where you bought the lamp from but I order all my lamps through dlplamps.com
The clicking sound you hear is the lamp inverter igniteing the lamp but the lamp is bad.

Samsung hpn5039 worked for 6 years, now VERY dim. Thoughts? Can still see picture, barely.

The back plane lamps, and or the power lamp power supplies are failing. When considering 6 years of use, most likely both the lamps and the lamp supplies much be changed.
In many of these sets the back plane lamps are not replaceable. You will have to call the service rep in your area to find out if your set is serviceable.
From experience with these sets, after about 2 to 3 years proprietary parts become very difficult to have.

Tv brightness/vibrant

Most of the projection lamps are recommended to be replaced after 2 years. The older they get the more dim they will become. I would suggest replacing the lamp again. Some of the aftermarket lamps do not work as well as the factory replacement. I always spend the extra money and get one from Samsung.

Projector Lamp

Hi there

Does your Projector go in for regular services ?

Have a technician check out the fans of this unit as well.

I would suggest you hook up a UPS to this Projector , because eventhough you might not have power dips or failures - the power supplied to appliances is not spike free and Projectors struggle to handle this well.

Picture seems to be alot darker than before. toshiba 62hm95

I just replaced a lamp in a Sony LCD projection that was just over a year old and it was bad. It was a VERY dim picture. You have a DLP but, in either case a dim or dark picture is almost always caused by the lamp.
