Question about JVC Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Need to record from turntables to cassette deck.

I have a set of turntables with a Vestax vmc 002xlu mixer. I have a JVC TD-W106 tape deck next to the rca In it says (REC) next to the Out it says (PLAY). On My JVC RX-206 receiver It has CD and Phono INS, TAPE 1 it says OUT (REC) and IN (PLAY), The same on TAPE 2 accept under TAPE 2 it says Video Sound. I need to record from my turntables(which I run rca's out of) to the tape deck. I don't understand the ins and outs on the tape deck or the receiver. I spent 3 hours last night trying to figure it out. I can hook the tape player up and play tapes but could'nt get what I recorded to play . Someone please explain everything to me.

Bypass the reciever. Just mixer to tape deck. You will get a better recording anyways!

recording lp to cassette: hook t.t. to phono line of receiver. out from receiver will go to in(rec) of deck while out from the deck will go to in of the receiver. this is a loop to be able to record. when playing select tape mode to the receiver.

as for the above, when recording make sure receiver is on phone mode

Why won't my vestax vmc 002 turn on

Try replacing the fuse by one with same voltage and rating. Usually if you take a look at paperwork that came with the mixer it will show you which fuse you should use.

How to hook up to tv

For what purpose? To Record the unidentified TV audio or to Play tapes through the TV's speakers? Any tape deck records FROM a standard Line Level output of another device and plays out TO a standard Line Level input of another device. If your TV has those, go for it.

Looking at manuals may help, too.

When I recorded a cassette, the problem is the stereo is going to mono either left or right channel, and also have low volume problem during recording.

This sounds like an recording pre-amp problem. Anything common to both channels problem faults are always connected with a device that has both channels going in and out of it. In this case I suspect a recording pre-amp IC.

On jvc tdw11

the line out of a tape deck is about 1 volt peak, the output of a turntable is about 3-5mV on average.
Not sure what issue you are having but the turntable cannot be directly plugged into the cassette deck for recording LP to cassette. it would have to go through the receiver.
