STEAM DOES NOT EMIT WHEN I PUMP HANDLE. THERE ARE NO APPARENT LEAKS, AND IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THE PUMP IS NOT FUNCTIONING AT ALL, THERE IS NO RESISTANCE NOTICABLE. HEATING ELEMENTS ARE WORKING PROPERLY. MODEL #4000, 12.5 AMP, 120 VAC., 50/60 HZ, 3-WIRE. SER#0206161143.

The ventilate sign appears as an error message to tell operator that the flow of water is reduced. I can tell that the machine has not been descaled or was descaled using unscrupulous products that are labeled as descaler but they are not.
Because the sign disappears at this time after flushing water through the steam pipe, the flow restores the sensing that water is flowing normal. This "apparent restoration" of water flow is without any back pressure. The espresso function is restored for limited use.
This error code if not corrected immediately, it will not disappear and not allow any function even after flushing water manually.
The flow meter registers the quantitative flow of water as programmed for espresso.
Please descale the machine as soon as possible. before the 'Ventilate' error message stops all functions.
This is a well designed machine. Needs more attention to maintenance.

This means the water cannot flow through the machine. Normal fix is to prime the machine (turn water dispenser on, fill a cup) or descale the machine. Go through the menu, select descale, enter, then turn the steam knob fully anti-clockwise. You should put the descaling solution in the water tank first.
If you have the auto-descale in the menu then run it. Run the solution through the machine twice. Then rinse well.

ensure your iron steam button is not set into perminent steam function. leaving the iron with the point of the iron pointing upwards should reduce steam to the handle. also the iron may need to be descaled to ensure any steam switch funtion is not stuck in an on position.

alas we've had the same problem since day one, just opened it up, must be the boiler unit leaking at the start to emit the steam so the handle gets hot and now the seal is totally gone it will just leak when the water gets too hot

I had the same problem, whole new radiator, new hoses, new thermostat, and still overheating. What the problem was for me...bad radiator cap...all that money and a $20 fix...try it?

There are a couple of gasket you need to replace in the steam valve, if the steam pin is worn, then you have to replace that to.
