Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 Digital Camera

Download Problems Have had my camera for just over a year and had no problems downloading my photos onto my PC using Windows XP until recently. When I connect the USB cable to the camera the message USB Mode Mass Storage no longer appears on the camera and nothing happens on PC. Have followed all advise in manual, changing the USB connection, disconnecting everything else on PC etc. Havre tried other cameras on PC and they are still working OK, have tried another lead but no difference, have tried another computer but no joy. Assuming it must be something wrong with camera. Has anyone had similar problem and know hot to fix?

Most unfortunate! Could it be the cord connecting the camera to the computer? If you have another camera able to use the same cord, you could check that out. Look carefully at the connectors on the ends of the cord for damage or dirt. Also, check the connector on the camera with a magnifying glass and see if any damage appears.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Why can't I download my photos? I have had no problem in the past. I had a virus which was removed, and since then a few things have not worked. Its windows XP

If you can view the photos on your camera, and they are stored on a removable device (such as a Sandisk), then you should be able to load the removable device into a computer and copy the photos using Explorer. If this does not work with Windows XP, it could be due to the fact that Windows XP is no longer supported with upgrades. I would try to upload the photos to a computer running a current version of Windows (scan the removable device for malware before uploading to the computer). If that works, it's time to upgrade your computer. (I upgraded my XP computer to a Linux OS.)

How to Save a Movie From a Panasonic NV-GS11 Video Camera to a PC

I bought my Panasonic NV-GS11 video camera from eBay and for the cost, it seemed perfect. I liked the feel of the camera, it's simplicity of use, until I tried to transfer my movie to a PC and that's when the trouble started!
Normally, when you connect a camera using the USB connection, your PC recognises the device and you can use it straight away. I had no end of problems getting the PC to do this and I thought the driver was at fault.
The answer, in hindsight, is that in the menu there are 2 items for the USB Function, "web camera" and "DV Studio" - the software for acquiring still photos from the camera. Choose "web camera", connect your camera to the PC via the USB connection and switch on the camera using the Playback mode. Check "My Computer" and there should be a video camera icon with "USB Video Device" beside it. Double click onto this icon will open up a page, where if you start your movie from the camera, you can see the results on the PC screen. Unfortunately, there's nowhere on this page where you can save the movie itself.
I searched with Google and found the answer. Many people had the same issue but there didn't seem to any answers. Eventually, I found one reply on a forum way down the page which provided the solution.
Download Windows Movie Maker from the Microsoft page. This is for Windows XP:-
http://www.download.com/Windows-Movie-Maker-Windows-XP-/3000-13631_4-10165075.html
Open Movie Maker and you will see " Capture from video device" This allows you to save your movie into a directory of your choice and later burn the movie onto a CD using your favourite software.

Can't download photos from camera to Windows Vista on laptop

It's very hard to troubleshoot software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But why put up with the headaches of bad software in the first place? Please see the following post, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. Note that card readers are also VERY inexpensive these days. Just make sure you get one that's stated capable of reading your A40's CF card (if you need it right now, Walmart has a good selection of these):

Your camera is not compatiblewith Windows Vista. If downloading the images to the PC running WindowsVista, please use a third-party card reader.

Yes, you can use the camera with Windows XP, but you will not be able to use the serial port to download your photos. Only USB port downloads are supported under Windows XP for the PDC 640CF camera.
