Question about Maytag Atlantis MDG7400AW Gas Dryer

Dryer stopped working after 2-3 minutes

My dryer is 3 years old, I have put in a load of Towels. I mean the dryer was stuffed and suddenly it stopped working. When I opened the dryer, there was a burning smell.
Not sure what is the problem, I am constantly cleaning the lint from the link filter, but never cleaned it thoroughly from inside the duct.

I'm certainly planning to get a duct cleaner, but how to start my dryer.

Are you saying that cleaning the duct will fix this problem?, or do I need to take a look at something else too.

I already tried unplugging and replugging the dryer, but that didn't work. Dryer's light is on, but it is not working.

Could this just be a fuse issue?, if yes where can I locate the fuse.

Or do you think this is something else?.

    Thanks for your help!

Go out and buy you a duct cleaner. It looks like a dome shaped broom. Clean your duct from the outside and if you can from the inside. Also if you use fabric softener sheets, clean your lint filter with soap and water periodically (every 3 months would be optimal) to remove the clear residue the dryer sheets can leave behind.

Good Luck!

Newer dryers can come with failsafe relays to shut down the dryer before it burns down your home. If you want to try unplugging and replugging your dryer, or possibly checking the circuit breaker it is on, you may find your problem with the power issue. Otherwise a spontanious powerdown could be a much worse problem than a little bit of lint.

I had a bunch of verywet towels because my sink was leaking, and I put them in the dryer and it worked for a few minutes them stopped. What might be wrong?

Good Morning Friend,

I understand that you had a bunch of wet towels, and put them in your Frigidaire dryer, model# FGQ332ES. I see that your dryer worked for a few minutes and then stopped. There could be a possibility that the wet towels were too heavy from all the water in them. I suggest that you spin the towels out in your washer first and then move them over to your dryer. If you are still noticing the dryer working for a couple of minutes and then stopping, I suggest giving your appliance a hard reset. You will do this by either unplugging your appliance or shutting the power off at your homes circuit breaker for 3-5 minutes. When power is restored start it on any cycle. If your dryer is still shutting off after a few minutes, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose your appliance and determine what is causing it to shut off after a few minutes. Hope this is helpful.

-Best regards-

Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

Dryer making very loud noise.

We had the exact same noise all of a sudden start coming from our 2 year old dryer. We checked everything, rollers, pulleys, motors, etc. I was certain it was coming from the upper left. Finally we found a loose screw had fallen into the front felt ring. Problem solved!
Good luck.
