Question about Kodak EasyShare M853 Digital Camera
I have a kodak M1063 and one day i went to turn it on, the lights came on and it made the sound like it was turning on, but then the screen goes black, the lens goes back in, and it shuts off. The battery is fully charged and running fine. A friend of mine thinks the on/off button could be jammed but i have no clue how to un-jam it! HELP!!

I had the same exact problem. When the camera turns on and then lens extends, hold the lens out while the camera shuts off. Then sort of move it around a bit. I did this and when I turned it on, it was fixed. I guess something was jammed in the lens.

this generally happens if you have dropped it. when the message comes. try tapping the camera. if it works then you are lucky. if not then you have to change the lens array. it costs about 60$

I had the same problem; I blew in the lens as it extended and everything's working now. Seems to be VERY sensitive to dust in the lens/zoom mechanism.

Try cleaning the contacts from the battery and the battery compartment of the camera. I had the same problem and this fixed it, it seems to be a common problem.
