Question about Vizio L37 Television

Open Question

I can't turn on the closed caption on my 32" Visio TV.

I have a Vizio remote, but it doesn't have a CC button on it, and I can't figure out how to turn it on from the menu. Anyone know how to do this?

The cc has been enabled on your cable box. Usually there is a hidden menu accessed by turning off the cable box. Yes I did say turning off the cable box first. Then immediately pressing the menu button on the front of the cable box. The hidden menu should pop up and one of the menu options will be closed captioning,. Disable it.

SOURCE: Closed caption wont turn off

I have a Vizio VX37L that i purchased on 12/26/08 and I had the same problem by 1/4/09. My five year old son loves to futz around with buttons and switches and he somehow enabled closed captions from the front of my Motorola digital cable box (I had it hooked up to the Vizio via HDMI 1.)
What you need to do is turn off your cable box and leave the Vizio on. Hit the "Menu" button on the front of the cable box and that should bring up a setup screen on your TV. Using the down cursor button on the front of the cable box, go down to the "Close Caption" section on the setup screen. It probably says "Enabled." Click on the right cursor button to disable CC and you should be good to go.

Can't get closed captioning to go away,,, can't find it on the menue does anyone know how

Check whether there is a "CC" button on the remote control. If you are using a universal remote control, it might not have this button. As there is no selection for closed caption in the TV menu options, its original remote control will have this CC button. If you are the original remote, press this button once.

I do not know how to turn off the closed captioning on my son's orion tv set. I do not know the model type. I do know that closed captioning options are not on the menu.

If you have the original remote look for a button labeled "CC" or "Caption/Text" press this button till the screen says caption off.

How do I turn off captions on vizio tv with remote?

With the television on and in tv mode, press the CC button on the remote. It's the button with a square on it. That should get you into the closed captioning menu.

You could also go into the main setup menu and find it there. For more information, here's a link to your user manual for the Vizio L32.

How to select Texting

I just got my Vizio 32" a few days ago, so this is fresh in my mind. When the tv is on and TV is selected from the top row of remote buttons, press MENU. Use the arrow keys surrounding the MENU button to select the WRENCH icon. Under this icon use the down arrow (surrounding MENU) to select CC. Use the right arrow to choose CC ON MUTE (closed captioning only when you select the MUTE button on remote) or CC where you can use the arrow key to change OFF to ON and closed captioning will be on all the time. Hope this helps!
