What is the model number on the inside by the door. It's most likely a thermal fuse or the element. Do you have a way to check fuses by a meter or something? There are usually 2 thermal fuses on the pipe with big red wires where the element is. Usually they go out if not the element.

Thermal cut-off

when the thermal fuse or the high limit pops it's because the dryer is running to hot,all a dryer does is move air, when one of the fuses pops it's from a block from lint either in the lint filter duct or the vent line,if the air can't blow outside or out of the dryer the fuse will blow.if your vent line is long remove it from the back of dryer and stick a leaf blower into the vent line and blow all the lint outside, make sure there isn't a cage or anything blocking the outside hood, then pull out the lint filter, take the dryer apart, remove the lint filter duct and clean it out, also vac and blow out the cabinet and motor, you should do this once a year, your clothes will dry on time, less parts will get damaged from overheating ,your electric bill will be less and most important you won't have a dryer fire.hope this helps, the fuse will keep blowing until you clean out the dryer and vent line.

Dryer stops too soon

if the dryer seems to be running fine check the vent line and the duct that the lint filter slides into, most likely if it takes to long to dry clothes lint is blocking the air movement somewhere, when was the last time you cleaned out the dryer and vent line, you should clean the dryer once a year so you don't have a fire and your clothes will dry on time,if the vent line is long remove it from the back of the dryer and blow it out with a leaf blower, remove the lint filter duct and clean it and vac out the cabinet where the motor is.

Our Kenmore HE2 dryer seems to be taking a very long time to dry clothes (120 minutes on Medium High to dry towels/jeans) . It is producing heat, but it also seems to be producing water/steam. The filter...

you need to clean out the vent line and the dryer.unplug the dryer, pull out the filter, remove the bottom panel and then remove the duct that the lint filter slides into and clean it out,vac out the inside of the dryer,if you have a shop vac you can blow all the lint from the back and then vac it up,make sure you blow off the motor, alot of lint gets built up around and inside it,pull out the dryer and pull off the vent line,if it's a long run i use a leaf blower to blow out the vent line, first go outside and make sure the vent is clear so when you blow out the vent line nothing is blocking the lint from coming out.this will take care of your problem,do this once a year and your dryer will last longer, you'll need less parts changed out over the years because the dryer won't over heat, you'll save on electricity, your clothes willl dry on time and most of all you won't have any fires

Dryer has to run two or three times to dry clothes seem to be hot enought. any suggestions

Check your lint filter. Keep it clean every time you dry clothes. If it is clean ther is a good chance the hose that carries the hot air and lint from machine to the outside of the building. Also the lint fan may be burned ot. YOu should feel air blowing when you pull the lint filter out of the machine. If not the motor is shot.

We have a Kenmore 80 gas dryer that tumbles, has hot air, but takes 2 hrs to dry. Vent line is clear, but lint filter is getting lint on back side of filter as well as normal amount on correct side. The...

Have you cleaned out the lint build-up from inside of the dryer yet? When you disconnect the vent from the back of the dryer, look inside the dryer. It probably have years of lint build up covering everything and needs cleaned out. You also will need to clean out the filter reservoir (with the filter removed) if you can get to it with a vacuum attachment. Be sure to unplug the cord and close the gas valve while you are working on it. Also be sure your vent flap outside is not stuck and allows hot air to open it when in use. Lastly, when you push the dryer back into place, make sure you don't squish the vent tubing if it is an expandable plastic or foil vent, which will restrict air flow and cause drying clothes to take longer. Hope this helps. Douglas

Elecrtic kenmore dryer; auto dry setting not working propeely

you just might need a clean out, unplug the dryer take out the filter, remove the bottom panel and remove the duct that the filter slides into, clean it out and vac out the inside of dryer,if you have a shop vac that blows on the other end blow the lint forward so you don't have to pull the drum to clean the inside, make sure you blow off the motor alot of lint gets stuck inside the motor, now go to the back and remove the vent line,if it's a long run i use a leaf blower to blow all the lint out of the vent line, first make sure nothing is blocking the outside vent so when you blow out the line the lint is free to exit outside, all the thermostats run off of heat and if the dryer is blocked and the air can't move it will run hotter than normal, the timer can't opperate correctly either.all this will cost you is time and this should be done once a year anyway

Sometimes blower wheels will get loose in dryers. Sometimes they will get a whole lump of lint in them or you can hear a rattling noise in the dryer, this is the blower wheel, its worn out and it can cause the fuse to blow too,or it can half *** work and take fifty forever's to dry the clothes.Or it could be just that the dryer needs a good blowing out .I use a lawn blower to get all the lint out of the dryer as well as the vent pipe and vent to outside. I take the filter HOUSING out and wash it also. That is, I remove the housing and clean is good! Making sure that the dryer is properly flowing air is a good thing!

Drying not drying, clothes moist after hours

This is likely the result of an air flow problem if you are sure the heater is working. Ensure you are not running the dryer in a closed room which would starve the dryer of air dramatically reducing the air over the clothes even if the full length of your vent is brand new. Next, remove the vent hose from the rear of the dryer and check for strong air flow at the outlet. If it seems strong enough then run a vent through a window or out into another room and do one load in this fashion. If this resolves your problem the blockage exists in the vent line outside your dryer and disassembling dryer becomes unnecessary.

If not, ensure you have seen and touched every inch of interior dryer piping and hold the lint filter up to the light to be sure you can see through it. Disassemble and clean ANY section of piping you can't get your hand into. The area below the lint filter tends to catch a lot of lint and can only be accessed by removing the housing at the rear on the left side as you face the rear. Ensure the blower wheel turns when the motor turns. (Newer models may have the filter housing at the front)

Having performed all these actions will likely resolve the problem.

Disconnect the vent from the back of the dryer and dry a load unvented too make sure you don't have lint built up in the vent line causing an air flow restriction.
