Never been dropped to the best of your knowledge. Try plugging it in with the new battery in it and let it charge for a day. Then see what happens. Make sure there isn't any sort of protective film or anything preventing the battery from making contact. ALso take a light and look cvery closely with a magnifying lense inside the battery compartment and observe if there is any sort of corosion or lisalignment etc.

My fujifilm finepix s8500 will not turn on and the light flashes red when i try to turn it on

Always be sure the battery is charged and suited for your camera.
Check contacts of the battery and in the battery compartment of your camera. Dirty or oxidised contacts can be cleaned with a dry cloth, Or a cotton swap. Never use sharp tools to clean contacts or anything in or on your camera.
Always charge the battery before using it for the first time, or if you have not used it for a long period. 3 months is a very long period.
Also check if the battery door is closed correct. Most cameras do have a switch connected to the battery door. If the switch does not work correct, it could be you can't switch on your camera.
Never use manganese (Zinc-Carbon) batteries in your camera.
Alkaline battery performance is limited, especially at low temperatures. The use of NiMH batteries is recommended.

When, while shutting down, the lens got stuck, the camera won't see it on the correct place when switched on.
When you are sure you have good and charged batteries with clean contacts, reinsert the batteries and switch on again.
If that does not solve the problem, switch the camera off and feel if al slight pressure on the lens barrel, will help the lens go in. Never use force, because you can damage the lens motor or the gears.

Tried 6 sets of batteries all brand new. The camera wont turn on, it has not been dropped and there is no damage.

Sounds like the camera has gone bad. If its under warranty I would get it swapped out asap.

Well i was recording a video on my camera and i drop it on the sidewalk and it wont turn on so can u please help me please i dont want to by another one

  • Make sure you have all the parts of the damaged camera. Don't leave the spot where you dropped your camera right away. Gather all the pieces and put them in a Ziploc bag or a container.
  • Step 2Check the camera for damage. Make sure the battery fits tightly. Turn on the camera. If there is no error code on the screen, check the camera's other functions and features. A broken lens can't be fixed. It can only be replaced.
  • Step 3If your camera is damaged, don't try to fix it--especially if it is expensive. It's not worth the risk of doing further damage. Fixing a camera requires a lot of knowledge and skill. Specific brands require specific technicians.
  • Step 4Go to the nearest service center for your camera brand or to a repair shop. Service centers won't fix the camera for free (unless you bought supplementary coverage or have insurance). Sometimes a repair costs almost as much as the camera itself...

TRY THAT :) ♥♥hope it helps!

My camera wont turn on and i bought new batteries

If the camera has recently been dropped you may have lens damage that is preventing it from powering up. If it hasn't been dropped your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera and give them a full charge (assuming that you are using rechargeable batteries). This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

    Camera wont turn on/off

I went to another problem, knowing my camera was stepped on, I messed around with moving the lens part around, barley moving it, and then I tried holding the on/off button and the button to take the pics with, and then put in new batteries and it turned on. I would suggest doing that.
