Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook
My laptop wont boot up. I was playing music in Media Player and suddenly a blue screen with text came up for one second, then it went off. I turned it back on and as soon as it got to desktop and froze forcing me to hard shutdown. From then on it only gets past the very first Acer load-up screen (the one where you can press f2 to change the setup) and it just stays constantly on the black screen afterwards with the "_" sign flashing in the top left hand corner. I can get into the screen to put it in safe mode and ive set the setup to default settings... please help...
The OS probably has a corrupt system file that is causing it not to turn on properly. If you can get into safe mode, back up all of the files that you need either online or via a flash disk or blank CD/DVD. Make a list of the software you have that is downloadable from the internet, etc. as well. Once you are sure you have enerything, either burn recovery disks or use the recovery disks provided with your computer and wipe the hard-drive. This will make your computer like it was the day you opened it. After this is completed, restore your old files and you should be good to go!

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
