Question about Whirlpool Dryers

Outlet wired wrong, nothing works

I have a whirlpool front load dryer. I plugged in the dryer to the out let and heard some humming, then a click, then nothing. The lights do not come on, nothing. I opened up the outlet and saw the wires were incorrect according to the panel on the back of the dryer. The white (neutral) was not on the center of a 3 way recepticle like it should have been. Is there a reset, or did I burn something up?

was there the black or red going to the center? If there was it probably did fry something. There is not really a re-set on them either. What is the model number on there from in the front door?

Ouch! That would of applied 220 to the controller. Do any lights come on or can you get it to do anything now that it's wired right?

It should be pretty easy to replace. There are 3 screws to take off the top cover then you should be able to see what you need to get at to remove.

Did you get the wiring of the outlet checked out? Did the breaker for the outlet trip? In some cases there are safety systems built into appliances. Not all but some. This may consist of a fuse. Not the same as your car but works the same.
I would get a serviceman out there to look at it. And an electrician to verify the wiring.
One last note here. Sometimes when a wire is loose but not disconnected and it gets a little power through it, it will short out. Can cause all sorts of strange happenings.

My ge front load washer fills then stops during cycle and does nothing else. It spins in the beginning then will not drain at the end

It sounds like the drain pump itself is damaged--the important clue was the humming noise. It could be bound up mechanically or the impeller could be damaged and just vibrating instead of spinning. The part number for the drain pump is WH23X10026. The fact that the pump was humming tells me that the 120v supply is being turned on by the main control board and that the wiring is good all the way to the pump. When I service customers, I try to save the pump if possible in clog cases. Most of the time, they aren't damaged from a simple clog. But, occasionally, the impeller cracks, or the nylon blade gets loose on the shaft, or the motor windings have defects from heat, etc.

Dryer sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, what's the problem?

i have a feeling that it's a fault in the power chord, take it out and double check. it would make sense if it only work now and then after you have plugged it back in because it could have made the wires touch again to make it work

Seems like my dryer is getting no power. No

Good day,
The most common problem is the door switch. followed by the push to start switch.
You would need a VOM meter to test both.
If both check O.K. then it would have to be the timer or the motor itself.
I would move the plug to an outlet that is currently powering another device just to be sure.
Short of that it could be a broken wire starting with the cord itself.

Here's a tutorial of how to tear the machine down.

Front door is locked and I cannot restart machine. Indicator light says "f d/l". How do I unlock the door?

Disconnect the machine from the outlet. Prop up the lower front edge of the machine with a block of wood or cushion the top rear edge with cloth and lean it against the wall. Remove the three screws securing the lower toe panel to the cabinet and pull it down then out.

Reach up and locate the bottom of the door latch assembly along the inside of the front panel. Gently pull down the manual door unlocking tab until a click is heard. Open the door when the click is heard.
