I also have this issue except i'm using Windows Vista Business and XP Pro, i've finalized a dvd-rw (VR Mode) disc but when i place it in my PC it does not play it but i can browse the files on the disc. The directory structure is like this:

    DVD root
    -DVD_RTAV (folder)
    --VR_mangr.bup
    --VR_mangr.ifo
    --VR_Movie.vro
    -RTR_EXTN (folder)
    --rx.dat
    --VR_Stdum.000
    .sys-reserved-rw-bitmap.grow

If i place the disc back in the camera i can play back these files but no longer have an option to finalize the disc.

    Thanks,

I have the same camera, and found out that the VRO file is just MPEG2. So copy the VRO file onto your computer from your disc. Once its on your harddrive, you can right click on it and go to properties. Re-name your file from VRO to MPG, making sure that you still have the original VRO file in case you need it for other programs. Once I change it to MPG file name, I can use media player to play it and I have a DVD movie maker where i can edit and record to DVD.

I have a Hitachi DZ-BX37E DVD camcorder. No software. I have lots of recordings and can't do anything about it because i can't download it to my computer to edit etc. So frustrated. Have contacted Hitachi...

Hitachi say there is no software supplied with this camera. You don't need a driver to get the videos onto your PC. They have advice on how to use third party software to capture and edit videos on

Hitachi MV550e camcorder with vista

I have installed my 350e with the WinXP drivers on my Vista box. After install went ok, the DVD-Cam drive came up under my computer.

Copied the video file across to the desktop and changed the extension to MPG.

Plays fine in WMP, should be able to edit ok with Vegas or smilir I guess.

At least I can download from the camera disks and archive now. :)

Vista

Take the DVD out of the plastic case used to hold it in the Cam. Put the DVD in a DVD drive (mine is on the laptop). Find the file .VRO and download it to a folder. Change the file .VRO to .MPG. Should open with Windows Media Player. This is quick and dirty and I'm sure there's a better solution out there, but it's working for me. Regards

How can I view the footage recorded on the DVD-Camcorder?

-Press ā€˜Playā€™ on the camcorder and review the footage on the 2.5ā€ LCD screen -Connect the DVD-Camcorder to your television using the supplied Audio/Video cables -Download the file to your PC using the supplied USB 2.0 interface cable(not available on DZMV730A) and view it using a Windows MPEG Player application that supports DVD recording format (.vro file extension). -Finalize a DVD-R or DVD-RW disc and play it directly through a home DVD player.
