Re: Not Switching On

I assume you have reseated (unplugged and re-plugged) all power connectors. Try this, very carefully! Look at the power connector for the motherboard: you'll see there is a green cable (pin 14 IIRC) with a black one either side of it. Get a paper clip, straighten it and being *very* careful not to let it touch anything else, short the green cable to one of the black ones (do this with a deliberate movement - you don't want it to keep making momentary contact). The power supply should start up. If you're lucky, you'll see the BIOS screen come up; remove the paper clip (again, a quick, deliberate action). If your luck holds the power will stay on and the machine will behave normally after that. If either the BIOS screen does not appear or removing the paper clip causes the power to go off again then I'm afraid you've run out of luck and the motherboard has a fault, unfortunately not uncommon.

I have HCL Beanstalk Desktop, Monitor - Samsung Syncmaster 794MG. I don't have a ups. I get frequent powercuts in here resulting in interrupted shutdown of the computer. Sometimes while playing a game...

You seem to have a corrupt display card. Is it on board or do you have a separate graphics card installed in your PC. Either way on restart graphics processor is not turning on. What does the Power and HDD indicator on the PC show during boot up. You could also have damaged the Hard Disk because of your abrupt shutdowns. You can open the side cover and try disconnecting the HDD power (Yellow, Black & Red ) cable and IDE ( 40 pin flat ribbon wire ) cable and try restarting. If your monitor starts up and shows BIOS page you have a faulty HDD. Also see if the processor fan is a working when you start the PC. If not you have a failed mother board. Are you getting the boot up RAM beep. If not before you do any of the above mentioned things Just pull out the RAM ( with PC unplugged ) and reinsert into the slot. It might get your PC working after all

Power on doesn't show display i power it off and a yellow light stays on , is this fixable , i have two of them with the same problem one is ideq 330p and the other one is a ideq 200n

Yellow light means no video signal is being recieved, sound like a video board issue, good luck,(if you have on board video only way to fix is m/board replacement but if you have expansion slots avalible you can add video board.

Ideq graphic card

The 200N has,
Nvidia Nforce chipset
Nvidia Geforce 4 mx integrated graphics with dual output

But I'll need to know your model # to get a better idea.

Alternatively, you could just open the thing up and look. If the video card is in the video card slot, you could just read the model #, etc.

If it's integrated, then look at the motherboard for a model #, etc and let us know. Those are fairly easy to find, and sometimes come bundled with the chipset drivers already.

Let me know!

Crashes when plugging external 2.5" hard drive into front usb port

It is possible that your hdd needs more power than the front usb ports provide. On some the front usb ports draw less power than those built directly on the back of the motherboard. Try plugging your hdd into a back usb port and I'd almost bet the problem disappears. I know this sounds weird but the same happened to me with a different device. All the research pointed to the back ports having the most stable power. Hope this helps.

Need front panel pin colour code

The two green cables are for power LED, one + and one -. Then there are two yellow cables for the HD LED, with one + and one -. The red ones are for ON/OFF (power button), and the blue are for reset. So yeah, you are technically right if I understood what you said xD

Shuttle X PC - HD + Power LEDs briefly illuminate, no boot.

It sounds like you have a bad power supply. It will store up a very small amount of energy (enough to run some LED lights) but not enough to power up the system. That's where I would look. If that is not the problem, then I would look to the capacitors on your motherboard. Good Luck!
