The charity I work for has been given a printer from someone and I'm not too sure what to do with it. It's an Epson Stylus SX410 and it cam with compatible ink cartridges but kept coming up with...

  1. This printer/scanner/copier was made approx march of 2009 and the cost was about 100.00 US Dollars. Here are a few tips that will hopefully get you going. If it does not, I would not waist any money on repairing it. These days printers can be very affordable and and investing any money for repairs would not be suggested. Its easier just to buy another with a warranty.
  2. Wipe the green Intellidge Chip on the cartridge that is not recognized.

    • While we generally recommend not touching the green Intellidge Chip on the cartridge, wiping it with a dry, lint-free cloth or dry paper kitchen roll may resolve the issue:

      • Take out the unrecognized ink cartridge.
      • Wipe the chip with a dry, lint-free cloth or dry paper kitchen roll.
      • Repeat this for any ink cartridge that was indicated as not recognized.

  3. Check the chip contacts within the ink cartridge holder for any debris or dried ink and wipe with a lint-free cloth if necessary.

The chip contacts in the ink cartridge holder (cartridges removed)

  1. Check that the plastic at the bottom of the cartridge has been pierced.

  2. Check that the cartridges are in the correct slots. On many printers, the correct order is shown on the colored label guide, located on the plastic above the ink cartridge replacement position. An example of this can be seen in Figure 3 above.

  3. Reinstall the cartridges into the ink cartridge holder in the correct slots. When installing a new ink cartridge, the User's Guide recommends that for best results, to shake the new ink cartridge four or five times before opening the package. If this has not been done, shake the cartridge four or five times before reinserting the ink cartridge(s).
  4. If all this still fails you may check for a reset button within the settings of the printer. If that fails. Make a trip to your nearest electronic store. Make sure on the next printer only us genuine printer ink from that company.

Hope this helps. Have a great day !

Hey guys, When i print a document with red print the print is coming out yellow. Ive given it a full clean and still no luck. Any ideas?

This is a touch printer. Are you using "refilled ink cartridges" If so, that would be the issue. It sounds like a cartridge where the screen is leaking. I would use a genuine cartridge; or a compatible one (meaning, it is a refill, but with internal components changed out.) places like offer "compatible" cartridges with a guarantee.

Changed the drum & ink cartridge in HL-1440-ink bleeds on edge

Hi there,

This problem is often caused by spilled toner. Open the printer, carefully remove the cartridge, and give it a few bursts of compressed air. Often running several pages or type through will also fix this. If it persists, replace the toner cartridge.

Hope this initial info/idea helps. Let me know for any clarifications.

With power on, simply lift up from the hatch located on the front of the unit. The ink jet will slide to the middle position.

Toner Cartridge

Mine is a single cartridge system. The black cartridge that looks like it holds the ink is the toner cartridge. Replace it with cartridge E40.

My HP Photosmart D7360 will not print black, despite changing cartridge and performing print-head cleans

I have the same problem. I just re-installed all ink cartridges into my printer from the first actual cartridges given to me with the printer and the black ink doesn't work. I contacted HP and they told me that I needed to change my black ink, after I already told them that I have tried 2 new ink cartridges in the system. I went out and bought another one thinking that this would fix the problem, and it didn't. I contacted HP again and I was told that it was the printer that was broken. The actual black ink section was faulty. Since it was a year and a month since I bought the product it was not under warranty, so nothing could be done but to buy another faulty piece of merchandise from HP. I could also service it, but that was never given a price tag. If you want my opinion don't purchase anything from HP again, I know I won't.
