SOURCE: Re GE TFX26ZP sid by side fridge Evaporator coil keep ice on it

the defrost thermostat should be clamped onto the evap coils..defrost timer should be under fridge. If this is a newer model, it might have an ecm ( comp control) on top of the compressor..

SOURCE: Hello, I do have a Refrigerator GE model

When you replaced the fan motor you must also replace the evaporator thermister.
After you replace the thermister,if the fan motor still does not work you must replace the control board on the rear of the refrigerator.

SOURCE: Freezer fan in my GE side by side refrigerator surges and whistle

With you model and brand I would want to check the voltage on the fan and shaft play. Meaning the fan may be going bad or the voltage being altered at the motherboard. I do know your model with the control board that it has if a fan becomes defective the board is also affected. If the fan goes bad and replaced it is very possible that the board will fail and cause the new fan to fail. If you need help with diagnostics please let me know, Thanks, Sea breeze

GE Side by Side Refrig - loud noise behind the ice maker section Model PSS25SGMB BS

it sounds like the evaporator fan blade is hitting some ice that has built up around the blades i have seen this happen a lot on g.e. SxS lately,if you can remove the ice maker and dispenser you can see the fan blade,if you dont want to do this then shut down the refrigerator and leave freezer door open and heat it carefully with a hairdrier to speed the process up to melt this ice then restart it and the noise should be gone

GE Refrigerator GSS201EPWW is making a loud noise

This is the fan motor making noise but the fan motor is probably ok. The main board supplies voltage to the motor and can cause it to make strange noises.

Howling noise from freezer fan, GE side-by-side

Replace the fan, Remove the evaporator cover in the back of freezer, and probably another cover for the fan. Unplug your refer first. Usually their are two screws holding the fan bracket to the wall or mount. disconnect the wires, and replace. Their is a newer model evap fan motor that does not have wiring terminals to disconnect, it is hard wired together and you have to practically remove everything in the freezer compartment to get at it. You have to cut wiring and splice the new fan motor in. Fairly tough job. Usually an evaporator fan motor bearing fails from the refer being moved or in storage for a few days at least with the doors closed and the unit unplugged. This allows all that moisture that was in the freezer to get into the metal parts of the fan motor and cause this problem. To prevent this always block the doors open if your refer is going to be off for a few days. This will allow the unit to dry out without damage. Sometimes it was just a bad motor from the factory. Groaning noise on GE side by side refrigerator

Hello Michael,
Thanks for your question, I hope I can help some. My answer is long winded but full of good info.
The noise could be as the GE guy said refrigerant (gas) noise. If it is refrigerant noise it happens as the liquid refrigerant comes out of the tiny capillary tube and enters the evaporator (cooling) coil in the freezer. Along with the liquid coming through the capillary tube there often are gas pockets. The flow of the liquid and gas pockets into the evaporator coil cause strange sounds. If the noise you are hearing is this refrigerant noise, you should only hear the noise while the compressor is running and then only for a short time (1 to 2 minutes) after the compressor shuts off.
If the noise continues after that I do not think it is a refrigerant noise.
There are times when the compressor will not be running but the fan in the freezer will be running on this model. This is normal and working properly but if the noise is present when the freezer fan is running and the noise stops when the freezer fan stops, the likely cause will be the main board located in a square panel on the rear of the refrigerator above the compressor compartment. I know that sounds crazy but the main board can cause the freezer fan motor to make some really strange noises. Eventually the board will probably fail.
One other test would be for you to listen for the compressor to turn off, then if the noise is present after the compressor turns off, you would next unplug the refrigerator from the receptacle. If the noise continues with the refrigerator unplugged it must be refrigerant noise. If it stops, I am betting on a bad main board.
I tried to locate for you information on a material that Whirlpool and Frigidaire as well as some others use as a noise deaden-er that they wrap around where the capillary tube enters the evaporator. I was not successful in locating anything. I am sorry I could not find it.

GE sxs Not Freezing

See if freezer fan is running when the unit is on. If you hear no fan when it's running. You probably need an evaporator fan motor.
Also check for ice or frost build up around fan.

Noise

I believe you will trace this noise back to the evaporator fan motor inside the freezer making the noise. If you agree that the noise is coming from the evaporator fan motor inside the freezer it is not the motor that is responsible. Your model has a Main Mother Board on the outside rear wall of the freezer down low (about 10 screws hold square cover on over board). The Main Board is causing your noisy evaporator fan motor. Use caution when handling any electronic circuit board. Follow antistatic cautions. Static electricity in your body can damage these valuable circuit boards.
