Replacement thermostat in chest freezer

Help please I need to replace the thermostatin a Zanussi ZCF 164 chest freezer . The eletrical end is straight forward, but the sender end of the capillary tube disappears into the back of the freezer. How do you get at this, do you have to empty the contents and access it from the inside? Thanks, Peter.

Re: Replacement thermostat in chest freezer

In order for the "stat" to sense the coldness of the freezer box it needs to be within the chilled space. it is probably held on by a couple of clips on the underside of the freezer compartment on the evaporator plate.

Good day James.

There must be a loose cable for the green light to come on. Your thermostat might need replacement especially if doesn't go on defost which happens automatically.

How to change lock on zanussi chest freezer

There should be a few screws to change. They are covered by a smll plate to keep it looking tidy. Just pop the plate off and replace it. I am assuming you are going back with the original parts.

The bulb in the lid of my Zanussi chest freezer ZCF 94 C blew i actually heard the bang on opening the lid have bought new bulb but still not working

Hi, sounds worse than just the bulb if you heard it bang, I would get it looked at, electricity can kill and your light is in the lid and you touch the lid to open it.
Hope that helps. Dont forget to vote for the solution.

I need to replace my thermostat on my ge chest freezer model #fcm7sudww, I lost the wiring diagram and I need help to rewire. Thanks

Wiring diagram of the chest freezer turned into chest fridge. The junction box is not required if all connections are made inside the fridge service compartment. Active (A) connection passes via latching relay terminals
inside the thermostat.

Additional information can find HERE.

Hope helps; tell us news.

Will not freeze

Possible bad thermostat. You can disconnect the thermostat, take a jumper wire and plug in where the thermostat goes. This will tell the unit that the unit is turned on. If the freezer freezes, then it is the thermostat and it needs to be replaced. They can be purchased from an appliance supply house. Do not run the unit with the jumper wire or the compressor will run and not shut off.
