Question about Lowrance iWAY 250C GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Unit will not find its position It searches for position but will not locate any satelites. This is the second unit that I have had to do this. This one is still under the one year waranty period. Is there a way to reset the machine? I have already tried the small reset button on the bottom of the unit. Not sure what to do to fix it.

I try sticking it as far away from everything and switching it on though it takes very long best thing is to put it on before you driving.

I have a ifinder hunt GPS, it will not locate any satellites, it then prompts me to stop searching or continue to search for satellites. I have been trying this device over the last 10 months, mostly on...

With a normal GPS device, when you first switch it on, it needs some time to locate enough satelites. Most of the time it needs at least 5 satelites. Some time should be like minutes and not hours. After the GPS device fond enough satelites, it knows where it is and can when it is switched on again work faster. When you try to let the GPS search for satelites indoors, or without a free view to the sky, it is possible the receiver never can find satelites at all.
I don't know if any test of the Lowrance iFINDER Hunt GPS was placed on the net, but that is where you can check how long it should take for the GPS to find enough satelites.

TOMTOM GO LIVE 2050 problem with TOMTOM Server

Have you been able to get satellite connections (signals) when you're outdoors ? and not under/around tall buildings or overhanging obstructions.
Regularly get QuickGPSfix update (using TomTom HOME) to download the latest satellite positions (for the next 7 days), to enable your GPS to find the satellites quicker.

Two year old tom tom xl can take up to 15mins to get a signal any advice

The TomTom device needs to tune in on three or more GPS satelites to find your position. On start, it scans the hemisphere for any satelites and ten minutes and more are not uncommon to establish fixes on them.

The solution is a data package you can download from TomTom servers via the Home software, "QuickGPSFix". It holds precomputed satelite positions for the next few days which speeds up locking to satelites to a few seconds from minutes. However, you need to update the package roughly once a week or the initial delay will pop up again.

My eTREX VISTA won't get a satelite fix any more

The unit needs to have the screen facing up. The unit will not read if it is vertical. Garmin cust serv finally helped me with that one. Once you turn on the unit, it could take up to 20 minutes (usually about 3) to grab satelites.

GARMIN C330 WILL NOT LOCATE SATTELITE

Have you tried a Master Reset? It may help, but it WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR FAVORITES. To do a Master Reset, turn the unit off. Press and hold the bottom right of the screen, then press and release the power button. Keep pressing the screen until the unit asks if you are sure you want to reset. Follow the prompts.

"Searching for Satelite" - unable to find

10-15 minutes is normal.
Did you take it outside? GPS doesn't work indoors. Try in an open field, no trees. Should lock in a few minutes. I always do the following: i key in the destination address at home, then put it under 'favourites". When i start driving, i put the unit in my car and look up the recently added favourite. The unit then has enough time to lock on to the satellites.

Can't get position fix

Check to see if the date and the start point location where you are located are properly set. The GPS needs close enough location and date to know where it is starting from.

Read the instructions about the initial setup.

Sound went out, any suggestions?

If you have direct tv satelite try unplugging the satelite system for 30 seconds or any satelite system for that matter. If this dosen't fix it try the tv unplugging. If not look for a physical switch that may be off position. Lastly go to the menu and see if the speakers are off. If this does not fix it you may have audio problems inside the set.
