I just finished upgrading the firmware on my Sansa e250. The player seems to be frozen at the startup screen, and isn't doing anything that I can see. Is this normal or is it toast? Upgrading again didn't do anything.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

OK, never mind, I'm an idiot who can't do research.

N.B.: I have found on three Sansa E-class devices that you can NOT upgrade from MSC mode, as the updating utility says. That is what has caused the problem. You must upgrade from Recovery Mode.
Go to the link I posted and see if it helps.
If you can not enter Recovery Mode, it is bricked.
FROZE
Check out the link I posted and you will see this is fixable.
If your player is frozen up, hold down the power button for 15 seconds.

i have a sansa e280. after syncing, i have to disconnect and reconnect before the unit will stop saying writing and when i try to look at my playlist screen, it freezes completely. what can i do when this happens?? the screen stays lit with little vertical lines but the blue circle is not lit. how do i turn it off when it freezes up??
Sansa seems to be frozen at startup problem
Frozen player: hold down power button for fifteen (15) seconds.
IF that does not work, you will need to force-format and downgrade the player. Instructions on how to perform this procedure can be found here.
