Question about Nintendo Wii Console

1 Answer

Blurry Screen The first time I turn on my WII console I get the black Health and Safety screen. It is fine for a second or two then it goes blurry. If you hit the A button on the remote it clears up and then is fine the rest of the time. If you turn it off and then turn it back on it is also fine. I have tried cleaning the heads on the console using a cd cleaner, but that does not seem to help. It also does it if there is no disc in the console, so I am thinking it is not a laser head issue. I cannot seem to find anything about this on google. Any ideas

This wouldnt have anything to do with the CD or laser head.
Try accessing the wii settings then display and check that you are on the right config.

Also can you tell me if you use a scart lead or the other option. Try checking that its all connected to your tv correctly

I contacted Nintendo and they have informed me that they had never heard of this problem before. Upon our discussion it appears that it may be a problem with the video input of the television and not a problem with the WII itself. I tried hooking up the WII to another television and did not encounter the problem at all.
It would appear that the tv I was using may be developing an issue with it's video input. I changed to another tv about a month ago and this problem just started happening about 3 days ago. The tv I was using was not a new tv and perhaps it is now having a problem with the signal from the WII.
If it continues with this problem using the rear A/V inputs, I will try hooking the WII up to the front A/V inputs to see if this corrects the problem as well.

I put new batteries in my wii remote and they are flashing but they aren't turning on

you probably have to resynch them. turn off the power button on console, then unplug from wall for 5 seconds. plug back in and turn on console. when the health and safety displays on the screen open the front of the console and press and hold the red synch button for at least 15 seconds. this clears all previous synchs. open the back of the wii remote and press and release the red button by the batteries. then press and release the synch button on the console. this should re synch the remote. repeat for any other remotes.

Wii after health and safety

Try resetting the system by unplugging the power brick from the console and the wall for 10 min. This is what nintendo told me to have you do.

The screen goes blank, wii emits buzzing noise.

refrain from playing for a few days.

its what you call a black screen of death. it will keep happening until your wii stops if you dont refrain from playing for a while and obey the health/safety rules (sometimes the wiis pass becuase the health/safety rules hide the bsod) [health/safety rules: take a ten - minute break every hour.] BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR WII IT IS VERY FRAGILE IF IT GETS A BSOD!!!!!!! {fragile=easily damaged INTERNALLY}

Wii will not load past Health and Safety screen.

Try a hard-reset. Unplug the console from the Mains For 5-10 Minutes.
Wii returns back to default settings.

Thankyou for Using Fixya.

Wii fit

Have had this problem before with wii sports. What I did was turn off the wii console and unplug from the power, leave for a few seconds then turn it back on when the health & safety screen comes up
  1. Turn the Wii console power OFF by pressing the POWER Button on the front of the console. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet for a few seconds. After a few seconds have elapsed, plug the cord back into the wall outlet.

  2. Turn the power of the Wii console ON. When you see the Health and Safety screen, open the small flap on the front of the Wii console to find a red button labeled "SYNC." Press and hold the SYNC Button down for 15 seconds. This will clear all the syncs on the Wii, allowing you to get a clean start to begin the process described below.

  3. After holding the SYNC Button on the Wii console down for at least 15 seconds, you can now "re-sync" your Wii Remotes:
  4. With the first Wii Remote you wish to sync, remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote to find a small red button just below the batteries.

  5. Press and release the small red button just below the batteries on the Wii Remote; the blue lights on the front of the Wii Remote will blink.

  6. Quickly press and release the red SYNC button on the inside of the white flap on the front of the Wii console (picture).

  7. When the Player LED blinking stops and stays lit, the syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number (1 through 4).
