Check the flue to make sure it is clearand make sure you have constant water pressure going thru the unit, are all valves opened up all the way it must have min 65 lbs of water pressure for the unit to stay on, if you are on a well you will have to turn the water pressure up on the system some well systems let the low water side go down to 35lbs before the pump comes on and the unit will not work with that pressure

No hot water

Possible that the coils are to be suspected or if there is no power to the coil. so unless the voltage is checked on the coils or the continuity tested of the coils , it cannot be confirmed.
Remove the unit and get access to the coils to test with a multimeter for a continuity. If there is a reading then check on the thermal cut off trip or the thermostat which can be faulty assuming there is power to the unit. Take care when working with the power switched on, and check the range on your multimeter when testing continuity and ac voltage.

We have a ge electric water heater - last night we set a new jug of detergent on top of it over the electric plate on the top of the unit - it had a hole ( small leak) in the bottom - it leaked all night...

You flooded water heater wiring compartment with detergent, and the wires were shorting so you turned off power and cleaned detergent. Now water heater doesn't work.

1) The heat from shorting might have tripped ECO reset button.
Open top cover on water heater, and push in red reset ECO button.
Be sure to re-install insulation and cover.

Other steps:
2) Turn off power. Remove wire nuts. Cut off copper ends of wire, and re-strip each wire so fresh copper shows. Make sure no detergent is on the copper. Use new wire nuts and twist very tight against copper wire.
3) Cut back burned ground wire. Remove ground screw and clean thoroughly. And then reattach clean copper to ground screw.
4) Turn power back on.

5) If water heater still does not work, then test across top two screws on upper thermostat for correct voltage.

You need to first determine if the burners light or not.

As long as the unit wasn't run with a dry tank the unit should not have been affected by continuous water running, unless it got hot enough to damage the thermocoupler which is an easy replacement. That is the part that your pilot/ignitor warms so that the gas valve will open the gas line to the burners.

Installed an ARISTON point of use hot water heater. Water is warm when faucet is first turned on turn just barely warm after a minute. Is there a way to adjust this heater, I misplaced the manual that came...

After installation check the water temperature. If adjustment is necessary, remove front

cover to adjust thermostat. Clockwise to increase the temperature and

counter clockwise to decrease it.

To reach the thermostat:

1. Pry off the round cover plate from its right hand edge with

a small flat-head screwdriver.
2. Remove the Phillips screw revealed beneath the round cover plate.

3. The cover can now be removed by pulling out its left-hand edge.

When reassembling, work in the opposite way being careful to insert the tongue
of the cover into the slot.

I have Atwood GC6aa-9e. Water isn't getting hot.

If you've checked at pressure relief valve ( careful, not to burn yourself just in case it is hot) by pulling lever and catching some water that comes out in a cup or whatever. If it feels hot out of there, check that by-pass isn't faulty. Not uncommon for valves to seize, and only partially open, or close, and end up mixing hot with cold.

Take off front cover, on the top of the two cylinders in there (the heating system) there will be a small red button. That is the Safety Thermal Cut out, depress that red button. It is similar to a circuit breaker. If the red LED comes on when you turn on hot water at a sink then that was the problem. I have on that trips periodically. Its annoying but not enough to replace the part yet. Good luck.

Rheem 25 ltr cylinder leaking from top

if it is comming out of the cover , you will need to replace the unit ther is no way to fix the tank,, is it comming out of both the inlet and outlet, if it is just comming out of one wipe it of and look at the threads it could just be the adapter in which case you need to drain it and cut the pipe remove the adapter put teflon tape with pipe thread sealer. put the adapter back on, re attach the pipe, if it still leaks you will have to change the unit, if it is electric make sure you turn it off at the circuit breaker before draining you don;t have to drain it all the way

Have a Rheem 81V30D fine..How to set 2 thermostats??

Adjust each thermostat (one under the lower front cover, one under the upper front cover) at the same indication (thermostats may not have degree marks but warm, hot, very hot or A, B, C). Turning the screw clockwise is hotter. For safety sake, turn off the circuit breaker for the water heater at the house electric panel before removing thermostat covers.
