Normally the F8 key goes to option whether to boot up in safe mode or the last known bootup session. and the Delete key for the Bios setup. Or the F2. try these.

Tried inserting recovery cd-rom in satellite P10 (windows XPHome) and first screen shows message about running Windows98! Aborted process and PC is OK. Is it safe to proceed?

should be. It looks like someone updated that computer from Win 98 to XP - that's why the recovery disks are for Win 98. You should be ok to proceed if you didn't do any of the recovery. Are you able to use System Restore to force computer to revert to an earlier time when everything was working ok?

Why is my ethernet driver missing ? where can i get an update done from ?

Well, there are a lot of reasons to cause your driver missing or outdated.

As to the solution, I'll recommend you to directly try Driver Detective and let the software have a free scan to automatically detect & update the missing drivers. This way things can be much easier & efficient. Also you don't have to risk install wrong drivers which might cause severe system issues.

Best regards!

How do I get a Win 98 SE computer to talk to a USB II external disc running from a Thermaltake deck dock with a SATA disc in the dock?

to be honest you have more of a chance of hell freezing over, win 98 se although being the better out of the lot, you will never get the drivers for it, usb2 will never work with that os and it will never recognise the sata disk, you could try using win xp drivers for it, but i very much doubt you will get any response, your best bet would be to upgrade to xp...sorry its negative, but Microsoft stopped updates for 98 years ago...

Creative 5.1 sound card not supported by WinXP and up

It might be true, since the sound card was made for the Win9k kernel. It differs from NT Kernel in the core. The 9k kernel's core is MS-DOS and the NT Kernel has it's very own core. Usually 95/98/ME software does work in XP and if it doesn't, can be updated to a newer version. But hardware is a different thing. You should first check if there's an updated version of your driver for Windows XP, but I prefer to a hardware problem, since two of the speakers work and the others don't. I recommend buying a new sound card if there isn't an updated version of your driver.

flashing or updating the bios is a critical step, make sure there's an actual and valid need to do this as if something goes wrong while you do it your motherboard will be dead afterwards.
now.. instructions on how to update your bios can be found here

for dual boot installation make sure you create 2 partions, install 98 first in one and xp, second, in the other partition

for more info on dual-booting check this

good luck!

I have MS Money 1999 operating with Windows 98 which will no longer open except in safe mode. Can I download a version of MS Money to use with my back up disc - using Windows XP Home

You can in fact run it in Win 98se Mode in XP, you simply have to set compatibility for win 98, right click the install, sertup, install, .exe and choose properties, then set the compatibility tab for Win 98. also do as Administrator, and also install as Administrator too. You may also need to alter some of the "other" setting on that tab too, you may have to experiment a little to get it to go... Failing that you could use MS Virtual PC, and set it up running in that, you could make a Win98 Virtual machine and load it and run it on that?

I have a problem to install window 98 .

Another solution is to download and install Microsoft Virtual PC in XP, create a Virtual PC drive, and install Windows 98 onto the Virtual PC drive. This works fine if you want to run Win 9X programs which don't require access to USB ports on your computer. If you need Windows 98 to have full access to all of the computer hardware, then use palaboy's solution.
