Question about Ryobi 9 in. Benchtop Band Saw

1 Answer

Ryobi 9" bandsaw drive belt supplied by Ryobi is too small to get on the wheel even when warmed with a hair dryer

Ridiculous. Does Ryobi actually expect customers to 'poach' their wheel tires for 5-10 minutes?, then potentially burn themselves trying to fit them on?

I received what look like 7-1/2 or 8" diameter tires for a 9" wheel. What's more, one of them appears to have a hole in it, as if stabbed from the edge. If I try to stretch this thing by that much, I just don't see it holding together.

Lest I forget it's taken over a month to order these things in on back order from my local Ryobi service center, which is a 40 km drive one-way.

I think I'm done with Ryobi tools, unless anyone has something a little more encouraging to say....

I it myself by putting the band in a pan of boiling water. It had to stretch about 3". A hair dryer was useless to get it hot enough

I am unable to remove blade

Make sure you clean the knob adjustments on your bandsaw. Sawdust buildup would cause stiffness of the knobs. Look for a manual online and follow the instructions on installing band saw blade.

Ryobi 902 bandsaw makes high pitch noise. have adjusted all guides and thrust bearing

The noise might not be coming from the blade, but perhaps from the bearings on the top or bottom wheel. Unplug it and open the covers. With the blade still on, turn the wheels by hand to see if you still get the noise. Then remove the blade and turn the wheels independently by hand. Then plug it back in and run the motor (with the blade still off!). Of course with the blade still off, the load on the wheel bearings will be very light, so maybe you can provide a bit of load by pressing a wheel or or caster against them as you turn them. Be careful. Good luck!

Will Delta Belt fit Mastercraft Band Saw

If you still have the old belt, take it to a well equipped hardware or auto parts store for a replacement. If the previous belt is missing, you will need to measure the pulley 'V' width at the top of the 'V', the center to center measurement of the two shafts, and the outer diameters of the two pulleys. Hope this helps!

Band saw blade wanders.

cut freehand. A bandsaw blade will always run off to one side or the other, even using a fence.

The rip fence is intended for re-sawing only, and very thin strips

Go to the Ryobi website and look under "support". They have a feature there that allows you to "locate a service center". Use that and you can find a repair depot that can supply you with the parts you need.

Grizzly bandsaw cannot fit blade

I lowered the spacer (on the threaded rod) and got enough drop in the upper wheel to fit the blade.
