How to install nortons

If you are trying to install Norton from a CD/DVD, insert the CD/DVD into your CD/DVD drive.

If the autoplay option shows up automatically, click on "run ****.exe from the CD/DVD" and it will start installing Norton. Now, during the installation, you must follow the on-screen instructions.

If the autoplay doesn't show up, open your computer, right click over the CD/DVD drive and click on "Open Autoplay". Select "run ****.exe from the CD/DVD" and Installation will now start.

If you want to install Norton from a downloaded copy, double-click over the downloaded package (****.exe) and follow the on-screen instructions.

Hope this helps, Mrityunjay.

Hi, I bought Office Word 2010 (I think) and installed it on three computers. My daughter's computer crashed and I wanted to reinstall it. How do I begin to do that? Thanks. Richard

Insert the disk. an autoplay option will appear. choose autorun or setup.exe. Follow the instruction as prompted on the screen. when prompted to insert serial key, insert the key that came with the disc. you should find it in the CD case. click next and install. it should work fine after that.

Installation of microsoft word 2007

  1. Insert your Microsoft Office CD into the CD/DVD-ROM drive and wait for the setup to launch automatically. If it does not launch, click "My Computer" (Windows XP) or "Computer" (Windows Vista or 7), right-click the CD/DVD-RM drive containing the Microsoft Office disc and click "Autoplay." If you purchased an installation file from Microsoft, download the installation file and run the setup.exe file.
  2. Type your 25-character Microsoft Office product key in the product key box and click "Continue." The product key is located on the CD jacket located in the back of the Microsoft Office CD 2007 case. If you purchased a Microsoft Office 2007 download from the Microsoft website, retrieve the product key from the confirmation email that Microsoft sent you when you purchased the download. Click "I accept" after reading the Microsoft Software License Terms and click "Continue."
  3. Click the "Customize" button and click "Installation options." Select "Microsoft Word 2007" and click "Install Now."
  4. When the installation process completes, click "Close." Follow the guided prompts to activate your product.

After i reformatt my pc my internet connection didnt work?my isp told me tht their a problem in my lan settings.how to reinstall my lan driver?

You can find the lan driver in your motherboard cd drivers...insert the cd then install LAN DRIVER. And if so happen you don't have the cd, you can download it over the internet by looking for the name of your motherboard.

solution 1
--- insert cd, then it will autoplay
--- look for LAN DRIVER....then just follow instructions. that's it.

solution 2
--- insert cd, then if it doesn't autoplay, browse the cd and look for LAN DRIVERS, then you can start the installation.

How to turn off autoplay?

Any OS
  • If you hold down the Shift key when inserting the CD, the autorun is bypassed. (although it's not exactly graceful trying to insert a CD while holding down keys on the keyboard.)
Windows XP - Solution 1
  • Right-click on the drive icon for your CD drive, CD recorder, or DVD drive, and select Properties.
  • Choose the AutoPlay tab, and choose the desired action for each type of CD. For example, choose Music CD, then click Select an action to perform, then select Take no action.
Windows XP - Solution 2
  • Obtain and install TweakUI (part of the PowerToys for Windows XP package), and then start TweakUI.
  • Expand the My Computer branch, then the AutoPlay branch, and then select Drives.
  • Turn off the checkbox next to each drive letter for which you want AutoPlay disabled.
Windows 2000/XP
  • Run the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE).
  • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesCdrom.
  • Double-click the Autorun value, and type 0 for its value. (If it's not there, create it by selecting Edit -> New -> DWORD Value, and typing "Autorun" for its name.)
  • You may have to log out and then log back in for this change to take effect.
  • Note: With this solution, Windows will no longer be notified when you insert a new CD. To make sure the correct icon and title for the current CD are displayed in My Computer and Explorer, press F5 to refresh the window.

About the dvd drive in acer laptop

If you have recently accepted all updates from Windows Update, the AutoRun / AutoPlay may have possibly been shut off.

A pictorial is available at the link below for configuring these options:
http://www.wikihow.com/Configure-CD-and-DVD-Autoplay-in-Windows-XP

Also, there is a common issue with CD/DVD drives suddenly not being recognized, please follow the instructions on this site, starting with Fix It, then the Manual instructions, and the final instructions.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

These procedures should solve your issues.

If you have any further comments or concerns please let us know. If this information has solved your problem, please take a moment to rate this solution. Thank you.

Drive not responding

Windows uses autorun or autoplay to detect removable discs such as cds and dvds.

Some cd and dvdroms, especially software installers, have an autorun.inf file which forces the disc to start.

Firstly Autoplay. Your media player may have been set to disable this function so your discs do not automatically run. Or you may have several suitable media players installed, but you haven't set one as your default player. Make sure you choose a default player, then set it to automatically run when a disc is inserted.

Secondly, you should be able to manually run the disc by going to My Computer then left click the dvd or cd drive. You may be prompted to select a player or program to run the disc.

Thirdly, "autorun" may have been disabled in registry.
You can check this by looking at the following key in registry.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoDriveAutoRun
This will be followed by Bit 0 for drive A and Bit 1 for drive B etc. IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS, DO NOT TOUCH REGISTRY!!!

Fourthly, as kykeaton says, you may have a faulty drive.

autorun may have been deliberately disabled in registry.
