Question about Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

1 Answer

The dometic a/c's on my RV are not working. I have had in to a dealer many times. they have to take the covers off and put silicon on the shafts, bu doing that one works for a few days and the other one works until I shut it off and then the problem starts all over. Has their been a recall on these? they are on a 2005 Georgie Boy Landau with 15,000 miles on it. i have owned it since new. please help.

If they are putting silicon on the motor shafts or bearings and the motors start working, then the bearings in the motors are dry or bad and the motors need to be replaced. The silicon will lubricate the bearings for a little while and that's why they will work for a while.

Try any local RV dealer, camping world, etc , or call 1-800-544-4881 to order directly from Dometic.
This link will take you to a dealer locator for your info on dealers in your area.( http://www.dometic.com/enus/Americas/USA/Customer-Support/Dealer-Locator/ ). Have your model number ready. Most dealers may even have a used one to sell you if you ask.

We have a Dometic Duo Therm airconditioner on our RV. The model number is 620515.331. When I climbed up on the step ladder to have a look at the roof of the coach, I noticed that encircling the unit,...

Yes once you remove the screws the shroud should come right off. The cover is just that, the cover for the unit. You might think about putting some screening around the opening to keep this material out.

Fan blades on dometic brisk air needs to be replaced

Roof top cover will have to come off, to get accesss to it. Not too hard to do, but may want to spray shaft in area of blade with WD_40 or similar to remove rust , and make on & off easier. Here's a link to dealer locator for Dometic. Any dealer should be able to get you a new one pretty quick, or most even have used ones from units previously removed from RV's if your stuck. Duo Therm RV Air Condiioner-Compressor comes on before fan motor

I'd have someone who's familiar with capacitors, (for safety sake), to test your fan run capacitor, and power to it. If capacitor is shot, fan won't start. Have to remove cover on upper unit, then cover on side at front where wiring is, to access it.

is their air flow threw the condenser? with the cover on sounds like its cutting off on high pressure switch restricted air flow.
