Question about Creative Labs Zen Touch MP3 Player

1 Answer

Zen Touch 40GB Scroll Problem.

Everything on my player works fine, except the scroll section. It can only go down. Even when obviously moving my finger up, the screen goes to the option below it. I don't know what to do, every other button works fine. Music sounds and plays fine. Any suggestions?

Re: Zen Touch 40GB Scroll Problem.

There is a circuit board under the touchpad that has probably gone bad. You should purchase a Zen Touch with some other problem like bad hard drive or broken screen, but that has a working touchpad, and swap the outer body for the working one.

My zen mozaic totally froze, I can't even turn it off. The battery indicator show that it is half charged. I was just trying to rewind a bit, and the whole thing froze. What do I do now?

See if this works. If a reset does not work using the reset hole, then try this: First, back up all of your music and do this: Turn off the player and disconnect it from the computer. Then press and hold the play/puse button and turn it on simultaneously. The player should be in recovery mode. Scroll down and select format (all) and let it format. Then reload all of music back onto your player and it should work like new. Hope this helps!

Touch pad does not work

If it stopped working after you dropped it, try this:

Hold the Zen in your hand, and with your thumb, press down on the face board as hard as you can. Use your other hand's finger to scroll up or down on the touch pad. Press down different areas of the face board until you find a spot that, when pressed, causes the touch pad to work. Then, using both of your thumbs, press that spot VERY hard until the touch pad works without pressing.

Touch pad will only scroll down, not up!

when my zen buttons stopped working all i did was just tap (not to soft or to hard) it on the side of my desk on the side of the zen on the volume side.

i think the problem is when people are dropping them its moving bits inside.

Firmware Problem Creative Zen Touch 40 GB

· 1. remove all creative software from your pc (do this from start menu/settings/control panel/add or remove programs)
2. Uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and Windows Media Player 11 runtime. This will rollback the pc to an earlier version of WMP.
3. Download the latest version of the zen driver from this location:
4. Make sure the zen is not connected to the pc and install run the exe file to install the software on your pc. at some point, the install will tell you that the unit is not connected. Connect the unit to proceed. it will also notify you that you are replacing an existing software, or something to that effect. I accepted or said OK to this popup. Once the firmware is installed, my started to work fine. You can now reinstall WMP from microsoft website. Hope this works for you.

you might want to verify that your new player has the latest firmware available, as this might address the unresponsive-button issue you're having. Firmware updates are surprisingly easy - you just download the firmware file from Creative's website, plug in your player, and double-click the downloaded file. It's that easy.

All else failes download the recovery tool from creatives website.

Touch pad issues

Next time you try scrolling on the touch pad, also push down (really) hard on the touch pad(kind of like you're squeezing the player). Keep doing this, and you may get it working. I've dropped mine a few times, and this push/squeeze/scroll seemed to work.
