The problem arises from the fly back transformer not converting enough current to be used by your TV. This fault might have cause some other components to malfunction. I would advice you replace the fly back transformer immediately, as a first approach. Thanks

Plug tv in but all it does is make a thump thump noise. power will not come on.

The problem is most likely caused by a defective fly-back transformer, it generates the high voltage that energizes the picture tube and along with the video circuits produces a picture, to repair the set would not be cost effective when you consider the parts and labor involved, better to replace.

I have a 65" mitsubishi rear projection tv, it has

The ONLY way to "Fix" this is to power the set via a 1:1 ISOLATION TRANSFORMER. You have what is called a "Hot Chassis" set, where there is mains on the actual chassis.. this is usually NOT a problem, however obviously in your case it is.. This is unusual, so it may pay to get an electrician to check things out.
in any event using the isolation transformer will stop any current flowing back.

Hi if picture is of it could be convergnce ic and that would require a tv tech cost is 250.00.

But the arching noise is usually your high voltage arching from fly back or spiltter you could take off back be careful it is very high voltage only do if you now this stuff, and you will see it arching when it is on and where ever the arc is coming from is the problem the fly back is a large transformer and is black with red high voltage lead coming out of it the leads could be bad to.
the splitter is where all the leads go into from tubes. i hope this helps cost to fix for tv shop is 350.00. thanks doctor video

Sanyo tv making high pitch noise from loose cable connector

The noise is coming from the fly-back transformer. By moving the cable connector you move the main board. Unplug the TV and remove the back. The transformer has a red wire going to a rubber cup at the top of the picture tube. Looking at the transformer you will see a dough nut shape with a metal piece going through it .. Drive some tooth picks between the dough nut and the metal core. That should reduce or stop the ringing.
