Camera not turning on any more, can't put the memory card back in

The last time I used my camera, it worked perfectly fine. Now, a few weeks later, I try to turn it on and it does not work. I recharge the batteries and retry, still not turning on. I plug it into the computer, and still nothing. For some reason, I took the memory card out, and now I don't know if I am just incapable of putting a memory card back in, but no matter what I try it will just not fit back into the space where it was before. Any ideas why this could have happened?

Make sure you are putting the card back in the correct way - usually a little symbol to help you on the inside of the card chamber cover or see your manual. Check also that no foreign body has got into the card chamber Come back when you have checked this out.

Took a few photos, switch off, 5 minutes later switched back on, blank screen but can view playback and menus

Hi there please follow the steps and let me know the result.

1. Ensure batteries are fully charged & clean the battery connector point in side the battery compartment.

2. Look carefully between the lens and the camera body for any sand, dirt or any damaged etc.

3. Try turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge anything stuck

4. Try removing batteries and memory card, wait 5 minutes and refit the battery only.

5. Now turn on camera( with out card ) and see ,if working then fix the memory card & again turn on the camera. If working then fine .
Otherwise format the memory card and fix back in camera again & try. Make sure before format the memory card take a
back up all photos in your computer then format. If no luck then reset or restore the camera setting by pressing Menu key for 2 sec ..
in not done the press both Menu & self time key for 2 - 4 sec.

Last time i used it wasworking fine next day got a 'card error'

Did you try formating the memort stick.
This will clean up any error in the stick.
Don't let the battery in the camera run to low, messes with the flash memory.

My sandisk memory stick pro duo wont work anymore

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC T70 and it keeps saying "Reinsert memory stick" whenever I turn on the camera or slide down the camera lid. Also, whenever I try to view the pictures on my laptop it shows "Please reinsert the memory stick" something along those lines. As I have been researching for the solution, I would have to format the memory card. However, I wouldn't want to lose the pictures as I just took many as from the holiday last week. The only problem is the memory card, I tried using another memory card and it works fine with the camera. There is nothing wrong with the camera.\r\nCan someone please help me how to solve the memory stick problem? It would be great. Ty.

Think you may have bent a card pin. Remove the card and the camera's batteries. Look in the card slot for any bent pins. If you see one, don't fret, it may be fixable. Use a small/skinny jeweler's flat screwdriver to bend the pin back as close as possible (one from the dollar store is fine for this). Take your time and use as much patience as you can muster. Take a breather in between if needed.

It doesn't have to be perfect, just as close as you can get it. When it's there, take your flash card and "SLOWLY" insert it. The card itself should fine-align the pin. Remove the card, and verify that the pin is still straightened. If so, reinsert the card and try it out.

If there are no bent pins in the slot, then the next obvious thing to try is a different CF card.

Switch on - Switch off! Coolpix3100

Coolpix uses SD cards, not CF. Anyway, try using the camera without memory card, only with internal memory. If it works, then replace memory card.

SD cards - Sandisk

Do you think maybe the problem is with the memory card rather than the camera. It is always safest to format the cards for the specific camera you will be using it for the first time you use it, that way it does not require to be reformated more than once a year ....after you make sure that you have backed up all your photos first ! Next time pack a spare card, but the camera promises to be very dependable.
