Hey there i might be young im 14 years old but i have the same laptop (Compaq N610c) and i had the same problem i found out that if you take the ram out and rub the small golden plates with a rubber then place it back (the ram is found next to the mouse pad) i then powered the laptop up without the hard drive i then took the battery several times and powered up it then started working again within 5 mins of taking the battery in and then taking it out again it then starting to power up with the screen showing the logo at the begining after it had shown the logo i turned it off then inserted the hard drive back into the laptop and powered up it worked and is still working now Hope This Helps :D My Email Adress Is znet-productions@hotmail.co.uk

Its either the motherboard or the CPU you since youve tried everything else...........then again I suspect it just MIGHT be your ram is there one only or two....if its two run it with one if its one only are you able to get it tested or can you obtain one off a friend. Sometimes oddly enough they clap out them ram and refuse to go. Try that and see what happens you might be surprised.

We understand that your problem is: Hi, I've had this trouble before but it just went away so i didn't do anything about it. My Evo N610c is starting up as normal but after the "Compaq" logo comes up it...

Connect an external monitor to the VGA-port, and then turn the computer on, to see if the usual start-up messages and flash-screens are displayed during start-up.

It could be the "inverter" -- take your computer into a darkened room, and start it up. Do you see the usual video, but VERY DIM ?
If so, then the "inverter" (inside the LCD case) has failed.
It's about a $20 part, plus $50 to $75 for a qualified technician's labour.

The screen on my Compaq Evo N610c is dim

You could have a faulty inverter or a CCFL lamp, To determine if you have a LCD screen, inverter or video card problem, read this and follow these instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Laptop dispalys to monitor but laptop panel cannot be activate

Hi,

Thanks for all the details..

The issue seems to be with the video card drivers here...

Go to www.hp.com/suport and download the latest video card and the chipset drivers

before you download ...uninstall the nvidia chipset or any display software from program and features.

after you have installed the software.. go to the nvidia control panel > setup multiple monitors. and browse throughout the options >
It should be dual display and not extended display.

Also try with a new user profile...

Hope this helps..
Regards,
Anup

All white screen on compaq n600c

When you hooked up external monitor, did you switch to it via "Fn" keys?
If it did not help, then it's GPU ot North Bridge on the board that needs service.

If an external monitor works, then the LCD has failed and needs replaced.

Sounds like video failure. If your video is integrated as most laptops are, it will require a motherboard replacement.

I own a evo n510c

If you are hooked up the the external monitor and/or TV and can see the desktop, you can probably reselect the internal display via software from Display Properties.

In most cases you can change from the external display to the internal and vice versa by holding down the blue Fn key, and hitting the proper number on the keyboard. The correct key has a blue icon meant to resemble a monitor on it.

This is if the repair/replacment of the internal screen was done correctly and the screen is actually working. If the screen is not actually working, though, this will not help you.
