Question about RCA Audio Players & Recorders

External FM antenna hook up - HOW?

I want to hook up an external FM antenna to mine (I live in a fringereception area and the pigtail wire FM antenna just doesn't do it). The FM antenna jack on the back of the unit is some kind of weirdnon-standard connector (similar to an RCA but not quite) that I can'tfind described anywhere in the manual and that I've never encounteredbefore. Anyone know what type of connector this is and where to get anadapter for coax or ladder-line?

SOURCE: Broken Antenna wire

Oh, I get it now. That extra Sony one should work fine. Does this mean you got it working or are you still looking for a replacement? You can most likely find these on ebay by themselves or as part of a laptop wireless assembly.

SOURCE: digital to analog converter box hookup

You will have to go to Radio Shack or Wall Mart, maybe Home Depot and get a matching transformer. That will have spade terminals on one end to connect to your tv and a round (75ohm male thread) to hook to your converter box.

SOURCE: how to add external antenna to a GE 75300 GE Slim Spacemaker

the antenna is internal (I couldnt find an external adapter) - u need to open the top (20 or so screws). Theres a "pipe" thru the back that leads pretty straight into the antennae. Hook ur metal to the closest bundle and out the pipe.

My reception still isn't perfect, but you can listen to it. I moved the ac power code to the far side and gain some improvement as well.

Have a bose wave and live in a metal building. Can't get hardly any am fm radio recept. 3.5 mm antena jack. Can I get an am fm antenna? And do I need to mount antenna outside?

The Bose has the option for external antenna, but uses the AC cord as the antenna, so first try stretching your AC cord to its fullest extent in a straight line, then in different directions to see if that improves the situation. This is for FM only. The AM uses an internal ferrite rod antenna, and this is sensitive to direction, so try rotating the radio in different directions to see if signal improves on AM, and place unit as near a window as possible.

If none of this helps, you will be able to use an external antenna, and no it is not mandatory that they be mounted outside ... as long as you have room indoors. In fact, several manufacturers market indoor antennas for apartment dwellers and others under restrictions against mounting antennas outdoors.

But, logically, the best way to improve reception is the largest antenna mounted as high up and as far away from obstructions between the antenna and transmitter as possible.

Good luck.

I can't get my tuner to work, but everything else works fine. All I get is static went I turn to the radio stations on both FM/AM

If you are in a fringe area you might need an external antenna to work with your tuner. Happens.

What do I hook the wire for illumination to on the vehical thanks

Illumination can be connected to anything that is live when the lights are on!
The blue antenna wire is live for power aerials, if you do not have a power aerial just tape it up to stop it shorting out! This will not affect your manual aerial connection!

Can i connect an external antenna to a sanyo awm 2000u stereo for better tuner reception?

Your stereo came with a piece of wire attached at the back. This is/was the FM aerial. It should be roughly 1 metre or approx 38" long. There is no socket on the back of this stereo to attach an external FM aerial. So if the wire broke off then you're going to have to either attach some new wire to the stub, or open the set up and solder directly to the circuit board.

The exact cable lengths for an FM antenna to pick up 88-108 MHz is 37.66" long.

Antenna hook up

If you are using an indoor Antenna:
1- the most probable reason would be the location of the antenna and TV in an area where the reception is very low. Indoors all houses are affected by the running electrical circuits which in turn generate magnetic field that together with the structure of the house obstruct or weaken the wave signals of wireless and TV reception. Also this issue may be aggravated by the vicinity you are live in. Where you are living may not have the optimum reception from some services including TV signals. Your best bet is to try moving the (Indoor) antenna closer to the outside (such as windows, or better to a balcony) and try all four directions of the house.
2- One other possibility, is the antenna jack being disconnected from one of its wires (or a de-solder) at an internal part of its circuit). This problem can be detected by trying another antenna that is working good when used with another TV (and preferably at a different location) thus testing for the possible weak signal at the same time.
3- The last possible issue is the antenna receptacle built onto the Tv set. This may have a problem of some element of it disconnected internally on the board or de-soldered..
If the Antenna is external, all the above points are still valid, but the probability is higher, for some hidden disconnection on the receptacle, the antenna plug or at the connection of the co-axial cable with the external antenna. (Once I found a co-axial cable with disconnections of its central copper wire within the protective insulating coat- probably due to defects in the plastic coat that had microscopic holes that allowed air and humidity into the central wire and caused it to corrode and have those discontinuities)..

My brother gave me the receiver, it is a AV AVR 1905 Denon do not have the antenna so all I get is static.

Test and confirm if the amplifier is working with an imput source. If the fault is only a loss of FM/AM signals then try and connect an external antennae based on the signal strength in your area to confirm if there is a fault in the radio sectiion. You can conect a set of wires to the FM loop connection and keep it up , if the signal strength is very good it will give you the signal after a search. Memorise, set an external antennae with a proper setting to get the best clarity.

Am fm reception bad

FM reception is weak

What to do

• Extend the power cord as much as possible. The FM antenna is in the power cord.

• Move the power cord to adjust the FM antenna

• If you still have problems with FM reception, you may need an external antenna.

* Call Bose®Customer Service to request one.

The external antenna on your radio is a coax (round) design It needs an adaptor and an antenna which are cheap.

Easy to make, radio shack "F" connector 90 degrees or straight, to 300 ohm wire connections. Attatch a 300 ohm flat ribbon antenna cable to those two screws and plug into radio and see how your reception is. You will need to position the antenna wires to get best reception. I have hid them in back of paintings and so on.

Cheapest solution next to putting an extension cord on radio power cord.

Razr V# lost service after using external antenna

I have the same problem. Contacted 3rd party tech, take sharp pick or equal and there is supposedly a button in the very center of the antenna port of the phone. gently push the pick in the center of the jack and it will trip the switch. I tried it on my second damaged phone and it worked, so far.

Cb feedback though external am/fm speakers

Hi Big OX,

Terrible problem.  I know what your going though.  Route your AM/FM Antenna wire, and Speaker wires separate from the  CD Antenna cable and power supply wires. If you can,  twist the speaker wires.  If the Speaker wires are run along side the CB Antenna wire for a short distance, you will pickup feedback. If you much have the Antenna wire get near the speaker wires, have the antenna wire cross the speaker wire at a 90 degree angle. Try not to run the antenna wire in paralell with the speaker wires.   Good luck
