It's not a circuit breaker your chasing. Check your vent to see if it's clean. You could have a bad element.

I have a maytag gas dryer mgdx500xw, with door open and light on, circuit breaker blows, with door closed it does not, if I remove the bulb, it won't blow either way. Weird?

the return neutral wire from the bulb has to have a bare spot on it touching the metallic case somewhere in the dryer, when you remove the bulb you just isolate the bare spot on the neutral wire from the hot wire

Maytag cloths dryer won't heat

A ground or a short is the only thing that could cause that sort of thing, unless you have a strong electrical background I would call a service technician for this

Dryer spins but won't get hot. Bad heating element? If so , where is it located?

Check your circuit breaker. It may not be your dryer at all. 220 dryers run on two separate circuits one to run the motor the other to run heating element.

My kenmore 70 dryer quit heating but runs like it should, does it have fuses inside the dryer? we have a breaker bos and breaker not tripped.

Hi,

Hi,

Thermal Fuse is located inside the dryer, If the thermal fuse gets too hot, it will blow, and completely shut down your dryer until it is replaced. This fuse is often mounted within the exhaust duct in the back panel. It’s about an inch long, and is usually found within a white plastic housing. When fuses blow, it means they have no continuity and no power will flow through it. A bad thermal fuse needs to be replaced. When replacing this fuse, check the dryer vents to make sure there is no lint buildup which can cause the heat to stay trapped and blow the fuse again.

Good luck and have a nice day
Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

Dryer gets really hot, blows circuit breaker, vent is clean and clear, circuit breaker replaced, seems to be something that controls the heat isnt working..

Howdy: In back of the dryer is a thermostat (inside) that lint hangs to. If it reads too hot it should stop heating. If not working then blows breaker. Inspect please, we do not want a electric fire. Good luck - Doug

I was switching the electrical cord from a 3 prong to a 4 prong and grounded a hot wire. there was a big pop and now i cant get it to start. would i have blown it up?

WHy are you switching the cord from a 3 to a 4? If the dryer came with a 3 prong cord and its a 3 prong terminal block, then i dont think you can change it to a 4 becuase you will short circuit. DOes the terminal block where your cord was hooked up have 4 terminals. Each termial can only have one lead/wire to it. check your circiut breaker panel? Is the circiut breaker tripped?

Dryer will not turn on

Turn off the circuit breakers and then back on. One pole could be tripped and the other OK and it not show. Check the wiring from the receptacle to the plug and into the back of the dryer. Look to see if all wiring is secure. If it still doesn't work, take the top off the dryer and locate the thermal overload switch next to or near the drum. Bypass it and see if it comes on. If it does, then replace it for only about 15 dollars. My guess is that it is here. Let me know how it does.
