No, it will require a new screen & as the price of LCD TV's are dropping the cost of repair would be just as much as a new TV. It may be possible to buy a new screen cheaper on an internet site but you would then have to pay for someone to fit ti.

We have a 40" element tv, it has green vertical lines on the screen, what could be wrong??

It's been dropped. (most likely) or an object thrown at it, or a child exuberantly hitting the screen trying to get the cartoon character. Sorry to say, it's not worth repair.

A hard object was thrown at my 35 in. flat screen tv. It has a small crack and vertical colored lines over a large area. About 12 in. of the picture is visible. Can this be repaired?

I'm afraid you will have to have the panel part replaced by a specialist. If you contact the manufacturer, they can advise you further on having it collected for repair - they will probably charge for collection, repair and delivery unless they can send a technician to your house. It may be covered by your home insurance so check that out.

Objects are doubled and colors are distorted

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

Busted with object, broken screen still picture but/w blkspot

there is a possibility that it can be repaired IF the object wasn't able to break any internal mechanics. Once that a mechanic was hit, and damaged, the screen will not be the only thing to be replaced but the whole Television itself! Hope that helped, good luck!
