Re: I am trying to fix a Sharp 27k-s100 television.
Can you use the remote control to change the channels? If not, it may be that to need to reprogram the remote to work with your TV. I just had the same problem. I have GE universal remote and have reprogrammed it to work with my SHARP 27k-s100 TV by following these instructions:
The code that worked for my TV is 173.
Other codes listed for SHARP are:
004, 006, 012, 029, 095, 111, 112, 113, 122, 171.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

On the front of the TV you should be able to press both channel up and down at the same time and it will give you access to the TV menu. Once in the menu use the channel and volume up and down buttons to navigate.
Looks like your son got into the service menu,(it`s rare since you need a specific combination of keys to get into it) and somehow managed to disable one of the input.I can`t tell you how to get back into it since it could do you more harm than good but any local tv repairman should be able fix that in five minutes.
Open the case, then look for anything that burned out, replace it!!!
If still won't start, you need a multimeter, soldering iron, try locate output diode on power regulator board, then measure the voltages, it has 3-4 type of voltages; first diode it should around 115V-130 V DC. Second diode it should around 24 V DC. Third diode it should around 11-16 V DC. Fourth ( if exist), check diode and should around 5 V DC.
The problems usually start on second diode, if persist, follow the circuit board.
1get the original remote control
2get a universal remote control and maybe you can get menu from there.
3get menu on front panel of the tv and search for the option.
4send the tv to autoprogram. Good luck!
Sharp has several locking and V-chip commands but one of these three possibilities should work.
Newer Combos With "Time Limiter" Feature If the "Secret Number" is forgotten, simultaneously press the STOP, RESET, and VOL up buttons on the front panel of the set. This disables both the "Channel Lock" and the "Time Limiter" features.
CTV's Lock Mode---Blue screen and display says,Parental Control Rating Unknown Try This: Hold Channel up and down on the set while pluging in AC cord. Or Try This: On the set, press volume up and channel down at the same time.
CTV's V-Chip Release When screen asks you to "input secret number" press and hold channel up and down on the TV set until message disappears. Press menu 2 times to exit.
Hope this helps!

while pressing the vol-up and ch-up buttons at once, plug the ac cord into the wall socket and switch on the main power. now the TV set is switched on and enters the service mode. to exit the service mode, shut the television off by pressing the power button.
