Question about HP Pavilion zd8000 Notebook

1 Answer

My zd8000 just swithes off on it's own. I removed the battery, to see if the problem occurs with the power supply and it does. Any suggestions?

It seems that the unit runs hot regerdless. Notebook still switches off when the battery is out of it. The unit has multiple fans. I even elevated it by using spacers underneath it on a desk for better airflow. You mean to tell me HP hadn't figured out a problem for the overheating and just sold unreliable garbage to the unsuspecting public?

    Is there a REMEDY?

Maybe I should try using it outside where it gets a cool ocean breeze. Then if it still shuts off, I can give it the "Float" test.

Any suggestions on where I can take it for servicio?

I actually have had it less than a year. Athough it's probably 2-3 years old, it actually was purchased by my grandfather, given to my mother (never used still in plastic) then she gave it to me.

    I live in Oceanside, Ca.92054

Hi there,

When you try to remove the battery and only use the AC adapter for the unit, did still turn off??
If the unit still turns off without using the battery, it seems that this could be a overheating on the unit, and that why the unit shuts off.

Hope this initial info/idea helps. Just let me know for further asssitance.

well HP have tested it, but they did not know when the parts will fail. it depends on how you use it. the best thing you can do is to bring it into a HP service center for checking & testing the unit.

You should see the green light on the mother board whenever the power supply is plugged in, so either the wall socket is bad or the power supply.
Try plugging a lamp into the wall socket to make sure a circuit breaker did not trip.
If the wall socket is good, I would suggest the power supply is bad.
At least the power supply fan should go on.
However, if you want to be sure, they sell a voltage checker with lots of lights to show all the outputs of the power supply, for about $10.
Or you could take the power supply out and take it to a shop to be checked.
A new power supply should run about $30.

I have a HP ZD8000 laptop, which wont turn on. When I press the on button the LED's light up, and sometimes the fans begin to fire up, but only for a split second. When I press the on button whilst both...

Try just the power supply fromt he wall to the laptop without the battery inserted. If it comes on and then turns off, you probably have a bad power connection. DC power jack may be bad and would need to be replaced or re-soldered.

Hp notebook zd8000 wont power on

In this case i suggest you to remove the battery from the notebook and try to power on the notebook with the help of AC adapter so that you come to know whether the issue is with the Battery or AC adapter. If still the notebook is not getting power with AC adapter you need to take for service retailer store and fix the issue.

Laptop will not power on

Shutdown the laptop
Unplug the power supply
Remove the battery
Plugin the power supply
Turn it on
If it works then the battery is shot and needs to be replaced
Still doesn't come on replace the power supply
If you replaced the power supply and it still doesn't turn on, then the you'll need to get it service as the motherboard would have to be replaced.
