That sounds like a operating system corruption, reinstall the OS using the recovery dics or eRecovery

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Acer laptop stuck on Windows boot manager

1. Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power" button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" keys at the same time.
2. During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup."

3. Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears.
If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2.

4. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard.

5. Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode" selection.
The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode" and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer Aspire to boot normally again.

I lost my question mark -- what do I press to get it back

Press your FN key.
If you look at your Keyboard on a laptop you'll see that certain keys have more than 1 symbol on them.
The FN key brings these secondary symbols to life as live keys and pressing it again will restore original function to the keyboard.

I have an Acer Aspire 5735 RAM

If computer is booting, connect the laptop to an external display , and start it up. If you have display in there , then the problem is a faulty inverter.
If you have no display, then the most common fault is the motherboard.
If computer does not start at all, then it is probably the DC connector on laptop motherboard. It must be re-soldered.
A motherboard fault is not that bad. Motherboards are replaced by Acer at a not too high price, or under warranty. Replacing motherboard you will not lose any of your data and the computer will restart in the same condition it was before the fault after replacing motherboard.
I am an authorized Acer representative and technician. They have an excellent customer service (at least here in UK). They will send a courier to collect and deliver back the computer, they have low prices on repairs, and warranty extension options. Call Acer and discuss the repair.

If Acer does not have the motherboard , then repair may get expensive. Third party price will start from about $220 for used or refurbished part.

Acer M3100 crashed

I'd suggest there is a possible hardware error. You need to get into the bios and check the temperatures they'll be under 'system health' or similar. Also might be worth running a ram check. Download 'windiag' it's a microsoft program designed to check your ram and it is very good.

You may have a conflict with the hardware. I have had installations fail because of this. You may want to use the Ubuntu live CD to boot into Ubuntu. If this works out for you, you should be able to install.

If you cannot boot into Ubuntu using the live CD, try booting into the CD using some special boot prompts. See this How To:
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/BootPrompt-HOWTO.html

I find nolapic noapci noapic did the trick for me on my HP.
