I am trying to charge up my a/c on a 95 olds ciera but the a/c compressor will not kick in as the system is completely empty. How can i engage the compressor?

I left a open can of refrigerant hooked up to the system (a/c off) and went in the house to eat and when i came back i started up the car and turned the A/C on and it was working. Evidently. i should have waited for a while to let the refrigerant enter the system.

With a vacuum pump, pull a deep vacuum on the system then charge the refrigerant in. It will go in by itself with the system under a vacuum.
You can also remove the wire connector going to the pressure switch on the accumulator and jump it out with a small wire. While the car is running and the switch set for cool the compressor will come on.

    Glad it worked for you.

Now you can find and repair the leak.

What makes the fuel pump not kick on on a 92 Oldsmobile Cutlass

There is a red wire close to the battery in the front. It's not connected to anything. Apply positive voltage and that will run your pump for testing purposes.

I have a 95 chevy cheyenne. My ac pump doesn't

Have you checked to see if the system has enough freon ?
If the system is low or empty the low pressure switch will prevent power from going to the compressor clutch.

The pressure means nothing as far as the state of charge. You need to have the system completely evacuated and recharged with the specific charge weight for that vehicle. Only then can the pressures or anything else mean anything.

A/c compressor won't kick on

The system likely has a leak, the compressor will not engage below a certain charge.

New compresser just stopped working was very cold ran it all day and now the compressor is not kicking in and out how can you tell if it is a relay or loss of carge

FIrst, with any electrical problem, always check the fuses first. The only way to correctly check the charge of the AC system is with a set of guages. You can assume the charge is good and procede with the electrical diagnosis, but it may all be a waste of time if the system has lost the charge. With the AC on, if there is a proper charge in the system, there should be 12v at the compressor clutch connector. This will be a 2 wire connector just behind the AC pulley. You will need a 12v test light, meter, or some way to check for voltage. If there is 12v and the compressor is not engaged, then the clutch coil has gone bad. If there is not 12v then you will need to check the relay for voltage. Sometimes you can swap relays with another that has the same part number. If the original relay is bad then the compressor will start working after the swap. Check all the fuses, under the hood and under the dash. Sometimes a fuse will control more than one circuit.

I also recall that you have to disconnect the battery for 30 seconds to clear the error and allow the compressor to kick in while charging.

Air cond.

When you start putting the freon in the compressor should kick on and then start pulling it in. Yes it will cycle, as long as all the lights aren't flashing on the temp control.

Climate control peugeot 406

look under the hood, check if the compressor is engaging.

if it is engaging, you may be just lacking of refrigerant.

if it is not engaging, then you could have an empty system, or an electrical problem.
.
if it is empty, then you have a leak.

you will need a professional to repair the leak and charge your unit .

if it is an electrical problem, then you will have to trace your electrical circuits to find which component is defective in order to engage the compressor.

from your blower switch, to the relay, to the refrigerant pressure switch and to the compressor.

i hope i was able to help,
