If your old harddrive is operational the best way to get your new drive loaded is to get a cloning program clone your new drive all operating system files will be transferred to new drive,install it and you should have everything old drive had

Hi there,
Before you change the 80 GB Hard Drive you can take the backup of your hard drive to the External Hard Drive or if you have any sata case so you put your new hard Drive in the sata case and make 2-3 partitions in the new drive and copy your data in the new hard drive except in first partition which will be primary C Drive for your laptop and will replace data when you install windows in it. after the windows is installed and your data is verified in your new hard drive you can clear your old hard Drive or use it as an External Hard Drive (as you like )
2nd thing which is more safer and reliable is that you make backup CD/DVDs for your data before proceed to formatting or even changing hard drives, it will be very useful and helpful for any unforeseen data loss

Try disassembling the laptop & make sure that all main components are seated properly. Also make sure that all ribbon cables interconnecting the various components of the laptop are tightly connected.

Try Re installing OS. That should fix the issue which is a possible corrupted registry.

Try Advanced system care . You can download a free version that works well . I would also recommend you download Malaware Anti-Malwarebytes

Yes you can install a 20 Gb hard drive but I doubt you can buy a new one with that small capacity. The smallest capacity hard drives are approx. 80 to 100 Gb or greater.
You most likely can buy a 2nd hand drive but you don't know its quality, it may have had a hard working life and you don't know how long it will last, but then, if is very cheap that may not be a problem.

that laptop only works with a 7900mb hd the only way to fix that is to either buy a upgrade kit for that model if available or get new laptop probably cheaper just to get new one sorry
