I am not certain what you mean. I set up the linksys router using the disc supplied but once all directions are followed and I disconnect the yellopw ethernet cable from the lap top I can no longer connect to the internet There is an X showing on the network map between the router icon and the web icon
i have dsl and that seems to be the problem in a nutshell so sounds like I have to find out how to configure the roter with PPOe. Is that correct?
You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.
Have you set the Linksys router to PPoPE and type in your username and password?
