Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Evesham V30DMCX TV working OK up to the time it was switched-off. When it was switched-on the next morning no results, no red indicator light. Assuming no power, mains-lead checked and another lead tried.Power socket checked and another tried. I was a TV service engineer a few years ago but before I delve into the interior, I would like to have a circuit diagram and some info on the possible causes.

If there is no led on and no power at all , then the problem can be isolated to the power supply board and power cable.

Testing power cable is easy, you can read voltages, or continuity between plug and solder joints on power board.

The power board is not much different from what you had on old TVs, only on many LCDs there is no built in High voltage circuit, and the high voltage board is an inverter located underneath the display.
Only on few models the inverter is located on the same board as power supply, in that case you should recognise an high voltage circuit aside the low voltage power circuit on same board.
Usually LCD TV have separate inverter board , this makes testing much easier.

The fact that you are a TV repairer is really useful, as Evesham Technologies closed down, and now it is very difficult to find a service manual with part list or an original replacement power board. I am having troubles myself in finding Evesham parts. See : Evesham Technology goes into liquidation or Evesham 37" lcd faulty power supply board - help repair .

Also not having any power at all is a good sign, If you had a fault somewhere else than power board, then the TV would have stayed on protection mode, with the led blinking.

to fix the power board do the usual, check capacitors after allowing discharge, when they blow you can usually see they are bulged or leaking. Then have a general look to the board to spot cold solder joints, and then proceed on testing components, this is not a complex board, and if you know how to solder and use multimeter this should be an easy task.

Morning, it flashes red light six times

From the manual:

Press the (ON/STANDBY) switch to turn on the projector. If
the power is not turned on, disconnect the AC power cord, then
confirm the ON/STANDBY lamp is turned off. After about 10
seconds, reconnect the AC power cord and turn on the power
again. If the indicators still light up, the electrical system has a
problem. Consult with qualified Sony personnel.

I have a Zanussi Freezer Model ZFT710FW. The alam and red light occasionally go off, although everthing appears OK. Temp OK, door seal looks good, etc. After some time the red light goes off of its own...

Red Alarm Indicator Light
Under normal operating conditions, the internal temperature of the freezer will ensure the long-term conservation of the stored food. When such temperature rises above a certain level (-12 °C), the appliance will trigger an acoustic and light alarm. The light alarm is a blink red light (Red Alarm Indicator Light), while the acoustic alarm is an intermittent sound.
You can stop the acoustic alarm by pressing the Acoustic Signal Stop Switch once.

When switching on the freezer for the first time, the Red Alarm Indicator Light will blink until the internal temperature has reached a level required for the safe conservation of frozen food.

Fast Freeze function
If more than 3-4 kg of food is to be frozen:
1. Press the Fast Freeze Switch for 2-3 seconds to activate the fast-freeze function 6-24 hours before placing the fresh food in the freezer, the Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator Light will illuminate. The compressor will now run continuously, to ensure that the fresh food is frozen as quickly as possible.
2. It is possible to deactivate the function at any time by pressing the Fast Freeze Switch for 2-3 seconds.
3. Place the foods in the freezing compartments (indicated with graphics).
4. Once the food is completely frozen (it may take up to 24 hours) you can manually switch off the fastfreeze function by pressing the Fast Freeze Switch for 2- 3 seconds and the Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator light will also go out.
5. Move frozen food from the freezing compartments into the other compartments (storing compartments) to make room for another freezing.

If the Fast Freeze Switch is accidentally left on, the fast-freeze function will be automatically switched off 48 hours later. The Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator light will also go out.

I believe that you all understand. If you intend to freeze larger amount of food then certainly a few hours before some shopping switch on the fast freeze function.

What was the code did all work cause i can not get it to work at all

Hello

Just try one amoung the following codes. I've only these three codes are available with me for Jensen Tv.

{ 0004 _0009 _0133 }

Proceedings

  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.
Note:- If one amoung the above four codes did't work, try the other after the TV is switched off and switch in again after some time, say at about 10 seconds, and try the other. Not enter the code continously without turning it off, after one code won't work. Ok.
__________________________________________________________________________________

If after trying "Direct Code Entry" your device does not respond, or if your brand is not listed, try doing a search of the code library for your code by following these steps.
  1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.
  2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  3. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks once, then stays on.
  4. Press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device to be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  5. Press and release MUTE to install the code. The indicator light goes off.
