Question about Computers & Internet

Need to verify power connections

I need to be sure I have the right transformer to connect to the power source. The monitor is a E15T3g flat panel. If I connect the transformer to the plug at the computer plug, is this the right place?

Samsung Monitor 192N light turns green when powered on then goes out after few seconds

this usually means the monitor is not getting a signal
  • i would check the hdmi/dvi/vga cable connections dirk_s.jpg
both on the back of the pc and on the back of the monitor.

  • if the connections are tight, and plugged in well, maybe try and connect it to a second computer or laptop.
    • If it works the problem probably lies with your gfx card in your computer (verify this by trying another monitor on it)
  • If it doesn't work on those i would try and replace the aforementioned cable (usually pretty cheap)
  • if the problem still persists the monitor would probably need to be replaced as its defective.

I just aquired a samsung930b flat screen, upon connecting to power source the power indicator light s flashes and nothing else happens, how can I resolve this issue?

Monitor this will more likely to have bad caps problem.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

I have a dell LCD model no 1703FPs monitor, whenever i power the screen its displays for about 4secs and turns black while the light indicator remains green indicating a video signal.

You may have bad backlight inverter board (shorted transistors, transformers, need test lamp to verify), or worst case the lamps assembly (need lamp tester to verify).
You can check and see if the power supply is putting out the 12vdc for the inverter board first and go from there.

VA712b monitor went dark while using computer, it will not power on, tried obvious fixes, making sure it was connected, tried different power source, etc; won't power on; any suggestions?

You need to open it up and first look for bad caps first, then check to see if you do have 12vdc feeding the inverter circuits. See example of faile VIEWSOINC monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Dell 1704FPT LCD will not turn on.

Hello,
The adapter you have been using might be faulty. Make sure the cable is inserted fully. If that does not work, try the VGA or the DVI adapter you have not been using. Verify also the socket to which its connected (the power source) is not faulty either.

Hope it helps.

I dont know about capacitors or regulators i just need to know how to turn this thing on.

on the specs from ebay I see you need a 12v dc 5 amp ac power adapter .
normally they have an led , but if you can't get power you will have to verify that you have the 12v at the tip, you will need a multimeter or 12v bulb connected to the end.
if your getting power then the panels circuit is at fault.
talk to a local geek about checking it out.

Does not power on

Hi Mia,

Hope this tips can help figure out the problem; If AC mains or AVR is good, review checking the power cable connecting from AC mains/AVR best fittingly. Or try connecting the monitor on different outlet. Just be careful in handling connecting end to AC source always. Try another cable if you have extra one. If the problem persist there might be internal problem on your monitor. Busted fuse or cold solders before you transport causes the problem. You'll need technical guy to check internal of the monitors due to high risk of Voltage Shock. Please be guided.

Best regards,
Rosener Guyano
