Question about Compaq Presario s4020wm (DK214AR#ABA) PC Desktop

1 Answer

Wont start up.

I am on the wii right now so typing this is brutal. Ok, so i try to boot the pc up. At first the fan kicks on and the orange light blinks (instead of green). Then the disc drive light blinks about ten times farely fast. Then they both happen again. This whole time the moniter is on but nothing comes on screen. The reason im pretty sure its not the moniter is because this has happened before. Ive tried unplugin everything then pluging it back and nothing works. Please help me!

Dimension 3100 turns on the power button has a steady orange light there is also an orange light on motherboard cpu and power suplly fans working but wont bot up

Blinking amber (orange) indicates a problem with the power supply inside the computer. If the system cannot boot and there is a solid amber light, this could indicate a problem with the power connections for the CPU on the system board (see "Power Problems" in your Owner's Manual).

Have a HP m7470n. The green power light in the back is constantly on. The power button flashes blue and orange (~3 seconds each). The computer wont turn on. When I unplug the cord and plug it back in, the...

In my case it turned out to be a weak power supply. It would work sometimes and not others. If stone cold, it would not boot. If I unplugged 1 thing, like the hard drive or the CD Roms, it would boot. Tested the old power suppy and it seemed to pass. But once I connected a new power supply, the computer has worked fine ever since.

Hi,these particular brand of Hp series is very problematic, try checking the Ram out,its usually underneath the keyboard,so if you have two installed try using one at a time to boot system,if problem persist have an I.T Technician look at it.

Optiplex GX280 - loud fan at start up and amber power light - does not boot and no light at the back

Apply pressure on the heat sink fan right before you press the power button and continue applying pressure. Watch your screen if you see it boot this means its a problem with your processor clamp that applies pressure to the processor. Try to remove the top part of the clamp. Shouldn't be too hard with some needle nose pliers. Then just replace the heat sink and fan with out that clamp.

Inspiron 1521 won't boot up. fan kicks in then shuts down nothing comes on screen

to fix this all you have to do is if you have a air compressor blow out the dust dont get the air chuck to close to the back, once the dust has been blown out your laptop should load up.. the reason it wont load is a safety thing once dust is out the fan wont over run and there for your laptop should start right up

Wont start

first check upc which is next to battery. check block plugs for water and corrosion if there is you will need to change etc check fuses on battery positive terminal.if these are all ok. you will need to check wiring for corrosion from upc to ecu. normally orange wire in loom is 5v wire to power up ecu.

Computer wont power up. Light stay amber and fan come on

Hi. No I think mobo is ok as you've got power to fan and lights. Are the drives kicking in? if yes then I think its your memory. Also if the drives are kicking in then your cpu is also ok. So that leaves the memory and graphics card. Good luck

No display and wont boot

A Blinking Amber or Yellow power button means that the power supply is receiving power from the source but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Power supply is easier and cheaper to replace.
