Question about Apple iPod touch
I have an 8 GB ipod touch second generation and when I turn it on, I slide the gray bar at the bottom. Then, it asks for my passcode, as usual, and when I type it in, the numbers won't show up or anything. Why won't the screen work properly anymore?
I had the same problem. not only that, when i held the power button on the top, it wouldnt completely turn off! music played, but i wasnt able to ajust the music volume.
i looked at the problem with not being able to go to the menu, and i remembered that was what happened before this problem
the solution for that was to hold BOTH the home and top power button for about half a minute, and it would restart it.
i tried it, and it worked immediately!

I have had the same problem. Did you drop it at all? If not, there was a problem tha pertained to some of the iPhones where the top third to two-thirds of the touch screen suddenly stopped working. Perhaps the problem extends to the iPod touch's manufactured during the same time period.
I would take your iPod touch to the nearest Apple store, set up an appointment with a apple "Genious" and have them evaluate the device. It may be eligible for replacement.
