I'm an artist and want to just set up my PV-DV53 camcorder and let it record me painting.
But it turns off every 5 minutes to save power! PLEASE...can I change this?
Thanks so much!
Hi,
Do you put a tape in when you try to record or do you connect to a DVD / VCR so that it records onto the DVD or VHS?
If this is how you do it, then I will recommend you use a mini DV tape instead.
Hope this helps.

I just posted another solution on the main link. Basically hook up the unit to the ac adapter, reset the menu to get rid of the blinking red light, and then put a new tape in on camera mode. The unit was able to record again and also work in camera mode.
yes, you can use generic cables to get camcorder picture in tv to burn dvd in dvd recorder attached to tv. Please intimate model number of Panasonic camcorder to look for instruction manual for you.
1. Take out the tape - AND TURN THE CAMERA POWER ON 2. press the menu button (near the viewfinder) 3. Use he wheel on top next to the viewfinderto scroll through the choices 4. Choose "display setup" by pushing the wheel in 5. Choose "C. Rest" by pushing the wheel in 6. Turn camera off 7. Next time you turn camera on y ou should be able to view tapes and record. IT DID NOT WORK THE FISRT TIME SO I PUT MY FINGER IN TO TRY TO GENTLY PUSH BUTTON WHEN I TOOK THE TAPE OFF AND THEN TRIED SOLUTION ABOVE AGAIN, AND THIS TIME, IT WORKED. BUT PLEASE DONT INSERT YOUR FINGERS IN AS I DID TRY THE SOLUTION 2 OR THREE TIME IT SHOULD BE OK, HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU, THANKS AND CREDIT TO LABBER

I've been having this some problem as well. Actually, I had the problem a year ago, spent almost sticker price to get the thing fixed, it worked for a while but I didn't use my camera much, and now the problem has returned.
thats an indication that no disc or wrong type of disc is present. Have you tryed to clean the laser lens>> or using the approved lens cleaner for this unit?? try it and see you may be surprised. good luck
