Re: hi

Hi, Sounds like the condenser fan motor is the problem to me. Could be an insect in the contactor outside. I think you should contact a licensed air-conditioning technician to check it out. Find the REPAIR SERVICE tab on here and find one in your area or check the YELLOW PAGES in your phone book under HEATING AND AIR-CONDITIONING. You might want to talk with a neighbor to find a good air-conditioning technician

Central air unit sometimes comes on but after the unit outside kicks off the fan inside keeps running and the unit outside clicks and dont come back on

this can be caused by a defective capacitor, the cap helps to start the compressor and outdoor fan on the outdoor unit. Looks like a silver D size or larger cylindrical object. it will have a few wires going into the top of it. Usually they will look bulged out at the top or even blown open. Also sounds dumb but there is a contactor or relay that pulls in to put power to the motors. You can get a bug like a fly or spider under the contact point that will stop the voltage from passing through the relay. kill the breaker or pull the disconnect and check the relay.
you can also use a meter to se if there is voltage usually 220 volt across both terminals in and then out of the relay when it is pulled in.
let me know, i am an hvac tech and will help you until we get he fixed.
good luck Craig

This is just my opinion but I would recommend that you change the whole unit as you will spend nearly as much to rebuild yours as it would cost for new. Plus the newer units are much less expensive to run. Thank you.

I have a Ruud Zepher Serris Central A/C & Heat unit - forced hot air. I cleaner the dirt and debris out of the outside unit put back together and now the outside unit will not start. There is power...

if you have power to the outside unit and the fan is not turning - the most likely problem is that the fan motor is bad. I would make sure the power is all OFF and then try and turn the fan blade by hand. If it's stuck and will not turn or turns 'hard' - the bearings have gone out and the only fix is to replace the motor.
If the fan blade turns freely - then you might check the capacitor (small electrical device attached by wires to the fan motor) and see if all the connections are tight and complete and that the capacitor itself is not bulged.
If it's 'bulged' that is a good indication that it's bad and that could be your only problem.
Otherwise I would either change the motor myself (if the bearings are out) or get an AC Tech to troubleshoot the system.
Hope this has helped.

Hello, I had to replace my outside condenser motor with a universal motor and need to know if it should turn clockwise or counter clockwise, it's a 3 ton and the motor hangs with blades down....

Heres what you need to look for when you turn the motor on it it sucks air downward you have it going backwards. Reverse the two leads that are connected by plastic coated leads most of the wires are purple and yellow. The fan should blow upwards it probably going to be clockwise but now you know what to look for. If this helps please rate me and do a testimonial.

Goodman A/C won't cool

Fan motor or capacitor has gone out. Running the unit with the motor not running can cause damage to your compressor

Outside unit fan not turning no cold air inside.

Ok here we go. It is possible that the capacitor for that fan unit is out or the motor for that unit is out. Without the proper tools i.e. an electrical meter, there isn't really a way to test the unit. The remote should not have anything to do with the unit activating if the is a manual thermostat. I suggest checking to see if either the motor has gone bad or the capacitor has bit the dust. If you have the motor changed make sure to replace the capacitor

Good Luck on your repairs hope I helped you some\

I have an airconditioner a Kelvinator KSR20C Split system

Your condensor fan motor has more than likely gone out. This fan should run at all times when the unit is on. Since the fan isn't working then the motor must have gone out.

Replace Rudd Achiever 10 ???

if the fan motor outside let go it could overheat the compressor which he should have known before he replaced the motor. also there is no way of knowing if there is enough freon in the system if the compressor does not start, your best bet is to get another repairman as a second opinion

I dont know if my new humidifier is working properly

Hello Mary, Where are you located at? if its cold outside? Then whats going on is that even though the outside humidity is say 80 percent humidity on the inside of oyur house even though oyu have the dehumidifier set at say 50 percent by the time the air is heated up there is not that much humidity in it because then the air heats up by the furnance it takes and dries the air out in the process. I know it sounds confusing but if you have ever had a humidifier in you house and it get real cold outside if oyu don't turn the humiditfier down to a lower setting then waht happens is that your windows will start to sweat and run water down to the sill because its condensing on the cold surface of the window. Hope that this helps you.
