No Display problem of my NEC VERSA PRO Series laptop

The laptop powers up, battery is working, cpu fan is spinning but i don't get any display in my LCD monitor. I tried to connect it to the extended monitor but the result is the same. I did some research and motherboard might be the problem. Do you have any idea how to find out the culprit? Please help.

The logic board needs to be repaired or replaced. The part is available on common auction websites so you can try the replacement yourself, some people have been successful with reflowing the GPU chip. There are also independent Laptop Repair places that will replace the board Laptop Repair NYC.

SOURCE: My Intel D102GGC and Mercury 915GLV motherboard not wake up

Is this new ram or have you used it in this machine previously?

A couple of things can cause what you describe, one of them being the wrong voltage of ram. This page contains the list of memory that your system can use, check the part number on your current ram in google to find out what voltage it runs at (the recommended voltage for your board is 1.8v).

Other than that you may want to do a CMOS reset by changing the jumper block (should be described in your mobo manual), powering the machine on briefly, power it down (unplug) and return the jumper to it's original location. Now try to post the machine.

My nec Versa E6200 has extremely noisy fan. how to

Fan noises can be caused by wear or dirt. If they are worn the bearings might be gone or going and cause a squeel type of sound. That can only be fixed by replacing the fan. The fans are not expensive but the labout can be.

The usual problem is just caused by dust and dirt built up on the fan blades. The blades get out of balance and then rub or cause noises. If this is left long enough then it can cause bearing damage. If you catch it before then all it needs is a cleaning. You can do this by mechanically stopping the fan so it doesn;t spin and then blwoing compressed air to blow off the dust. The cpu fan and the powersupply fan both with clog up from dust and cause heat problems as well as the noise. Any of these fans are replaceable without buying major parts if needed. ie you don;t have to buy a new power supply, just open the power supply and put a new $5 fan in it. If the computer shop isn;t very good they will force you to buy the power supply instead of fixing the fan.

It's a bit hard to know what the cause is without being able to hear the fan but those are the two ways the fans have problems.
