Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
Good luck!

### How do I find the 4th square root of 16 on a datexx ds-700 scientific calculator??

Roots are called as follows:

square root

cube /cubic root

From 4th on, use the ordinal fifth, sixth, ... n-th

To calculate the fourth root you have two possibilities.

1. Some calculators have the x-root key marked with an x followed by the radical symbol. See the screen capture on how to find your result.

Usually the x-root is the SHIFTED function of the general power key that is marked ( [^], [X^y], or [Y^x] ). To use it, you inter the index of the root (the ordinal number). then you press the [SHIFT/2nd/ 2nd] [X^y] sequence and the number whose root you are calculating).

2. Alternatively: Use the equivalence n-th Root (x)=x^(1/n), meaning that to extract the fourth root of 16, you raise 16 to the power of (1/4)

### Why won't my DateXX DS-883 Graphing Calculator work, it has new batteries?

Try a Q-Tip soaked with alcohol and clean the battery terminals. Also, WD-40 works well to. If batteries are left in too long after a total discharge, it can produce acid which will eat away the plating on the terminals. If that's the problem, WD-40 is the best choice to use.

### How to i get the exponents to multipy out?

You do not have to do anything special. Just enter what you want and press EXE. Depending on the display type chosen you get
2^20 EXE gives 1048576.000.. for floating point, 1.04857600 *10^06 for Scientific or the same (particular case here) 1.04857600 *10^06 for Engineering. The number of digits after the decimal mark depends on the number of decimal digits chosen in your setup.

### How do you find a cube root?

If there is no dedicated key for this, but the calculator can calculate powers (ie x^y), then raise the number to the power 1/3 (or 0.333333333 etc).

Example 8^(1/3) = 2

### How do i do log base x problems (other than log base 10) on the datexx ds 883?

Calculate it the same way as on most other calculators, using the relation

log_b(x) = log(x)/log(b) = ln(x)/ln(b)

In words, calculate the log base 10 of x divided by the log base 10 of the base. You can also use the natural log function instead of the common (base 10) log--just be consistent.
