The wii is giving the message "unable to read

  • This message can display if you eject a disc during game play. If this is when the message displayed, make sure that you return to the Wii Menu before changing discs if you wish to play a different game.

  • If your Wii console is laying flat, it may be positioned upside down. Ensure that is positioned right-side up: the game disc slot should be above all three buttons and the SD Card slot.

  • Ensure that you are properly loading a Game Disc.
    • If your console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right.
    • If your console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards

My Wii Console just started making a noise when it is trying to read the disk. You can hear it spinning up very loud. I then tried to eject the disk and it made a very loud noise and wouldn't eject the...

Maybe the disc reader in the Wii is having problems, this could be natural for the Wii, but if it isn't reading the disc, then try talking to the nintendo company and ask them that there is a loud noise in the Wii when its reading discs, they should know what to do. My Wii does that sometimes, especially Super Smash Brothers Brawl, but it still works though. hope that helps.

The console is not reading several games that it used to read.

Sometime the inside could be dusty try to get one of those pressurised air gun dusters and spray inside the disk slot. sometime the inner ring of the disk were the system variefies its a wii game could be slighly dirty so clean mainly around were the hole is in the disk.

When a disk is inserted, an error message comes up saying that it is unable to read the disk. We tried a disk cleaner which didn't seem to help. Any suggestions?

I would recommend that you take the console to a game store and get them to have a look at it, it sounds like there might be a fault with the CD drive or the laser not reading the discs properly

Wii disk error

If the console try to read the disk, but you only get whirring and clicking noise, ending up with a no disk, and if this happens with all disks then it is a lens problem.

Try first cleaning the Wii lens with a cleaner disk, that is the easiest thing to do.

If that does not work, the Wii must be opened to access the lens pickup directly, and clean the lens with Q-tips and isopropyl alcohol, or replace the lens pickup.

If the cleaner disk does not fix it, better to contact Nintendo calling the number listed on the user manual to see if they can cover the repair, or replace the Wii, before disassembling the console.

Wii reads disk, but won't play it

I've been suggesting this a lot today, but it works for me 9 out of 10 times. Hold the power button on the front of the console for at least ten seconds. The light should turn red. Give it a second, then hit it again and it will reboot. See if this makes a difference.
