Began ATT's recommended 'migration'/upgrade/want to reverse

I began the migration on an off-site computer and immediately regretted it. The web interface is not at all user friendly to a non-techie.

I have not yet migrated the various extra email accounts I have and can still access them through webmail Bellsouth as always--from an off-site computer.

At home, I cannot access any internet at all--including my preferred Firefox--until I update the modem. Also discovered that the ATT upgrade will require Internet Explorer only access.

HOW can I 'undo'' or reverse this upgrade?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

You seem to be leaving alot of details out like why you began the migration or why was their reason for you to. Can you give more details about the modem ? Is it a DSL, dail-up or cable modem? What operation system are you running? What all was upgraded? When you refer to webmail are you talking about going to a web page in internet explorer and login in to a Web portal or email login? Off site Computer? do you mean a PC that is not at your home and it connnected to the internet?

As far as I know you won't be able to revert back once you migrated. your best bet at this point is to contact AT&T / Bellsouth and ask them to undo the migrate if it's still possible. If the first tech does not know what you're talking about then ask to speak to a level 2 tech.

MBGAJ09001

There isn't one. This is an ACER mainboard made for Gateway computers. ACER does not retail mainboards so you cannot go to the ACER site and get the manual. Gateway does not give MB manuals out since they are preconfigured and do not anticipate users to migrate or major upgrade the board.

Firmware version

Wireless routers contain built-in programmable logic called firmware. The firmware is embedded software that implements network and security protocols for that specific model of hardware device.Every wireless router ships with a tested version of firmware provided by the manufacturer. However, most routers are also designed to support a firmware upgrade process. This allows the manufacturer to provide enhancements to routers already sold. Manufacturers generally provide firmware upgrades as free downloads from their Web site.

Additionally, a few manufacturers (like Linksys) provide their firmware as open source code on the Internet. Programmers worldwide are free to modify and extend the code with new features for their routers. Several versions of this hacked firmware can be found on the Web, but the average homeowner should avoid these types of firmware.
The Firmware Update Process
You begin a firmware upgrade by downloading a binary file package from the manufacturer's Web site. After the package is set up properly on a PC, an administrator can launch the actual upgrade from the wireless router's administrative console. The router will stop functioning if the upgrade fails to complete. For this reason, manufacturers generally recommend an Ethernet cable be run from the router to the PC to ensure maximum stability during the update. Consult the router's product documentation for details.
Immediately after purchasing a router, check the firmware version to ensure it is the latest version. Firmware can be installed on a router at the factory several months before the router is sold.
Then, check the manufacturer's Web site occasionally over time for any new firmware upgrade postings. Each time a firmware upgrade is posted, the manufacturer will provide notes detailing the enhancements it provides. Feel free to skip an upgrade if the new version does not offer any interesting features. However, if a router is performing sluggishly, freezing unexpectedly or experiencing dropped connections, firmware upgrade often supplies a quick fix.

Up grade the computer

> upgrade the computer

What manufacturer?

What model-number?

What speed of CPU?
Check the manufacturer's web-site for the list of "supported" CPUs -- maybe, you can install a faster one.

How much RAM?
Check the manufacturer's web-site for the list of "supported" memory-sticks -- maybe, you can install more RAM?

What Operating System?
Maybe, you can upgrade to Microsoft Windows 7.

How much money do you want to spend in "upgrading".
Compare to the cost of a brand-new computer.

I need a replacement glass pot, mine cracked while making coffee. The heating unit gets really hot. I heard the crack immediately when the fluid began to flow.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers who can supply spares as required.

Just Google the manufacturer's name and follow the links. Make certain you are directed to the manufacturer's web site as some search engines direct you to other sites and they charge for the information that is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

Video Card upgrade for Dim 4700 to 1920 x 1200

go to dell's web site.
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/upgrades/en/segmenter?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~ck=mn

Fill in the requested information and they will give you the details of your computer, and recommended upgrades.

Does your current card meet your needs? The 24 inch should not need any thing special other than loading its drivers, and setting up the video. You will of course be using the "D"
15 connector on this monitor and a mating video cable. These have to be purchased on their own sometimes, so make sure one comes with your monitor.
