Question about Acer Aspire 9300-3716 Notebook

Acer orbi cam

How can I reinstall my acer orbi cam my daughter deleted it and now I cant get it back, can you please help and I have Windows Vista or can you suggest some better that will work with windows vista cause it was not working Hi! I have the same problem and after many searches over the Internet, I do believe too that the camera must be unplugged since I can't find it anymore in the device manager. Could you please provide us more explanations on how you opened the screen to access the cam wires? Or was it plugged somewhere else (accessible from under the laptop?) Anyway, thanks in advance for any info you may provide and good luck to all those who've the same problem, think I'm getting nuts tryin' to fix this! ;o) Kielo

    Hi!

1st : thanks for your quick answer!

2nd : don't know what happened with my previous post, seems I pasted a part of someone else's! ;o) : "How can I reinstall my acer orbi cam my daughter deleted it and now I
cant get it back, can you please help and I have Windows Vista or can
you suggest some better that will work with windows vista cause it was
not working"... This part was not mine...

3rd : Thanks for the tip but unfortunately, I can't see my webcam anymore in the device manager... So I can deal with the drivers... Thought it was disconnected so I tried to remove the border of my screen, etc... But I then stopped since I wasn't sure of what I was doing! ;o)

Anyway, I tried reinstalling the softs available from the Acer support page but it gave nothing...

    Thanks anyway! ;o)
    Kielo.

Thanks very much for your advice but I unfortunately can't find anything related to the orbicam in that list... The elements displayed in French can't be related to the cam...
    I'll keep searchin'... ;o)

Unfortunately, after different tries, it still won't work... Also tried to uninstall the new Nvidia tuning utilities I'd recently installed in case it created conflicts but it doesn't seem so... Keep you posted if sth new! And thanks again for your help! ;o)

    hi dear

Logitech just released a new set of software/drivers

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/downlo... for their quick cam product range.

Either I have been lucky or Logitech sneeked vista compatibility into their

software, for some reason my OrbiCam now works in Vista RTM. Btw, Vista RTM

does currently not ship the driver for this cam but via online update it

downloads the Acer XP drivers, 9.4.4.1041, which gets the camera going. Yet

to use the camera in Messenger or Skype you need to install the QuickCam

Software from Software out of the a.m. package.

It is certainly not the most versatile soltiuon, but gets the camera going

for the time being, until Acer releases the necessary drivers and software.

unfortunately there could be the possibility that your acer cam is not compatible with vista.. vista is a tricky os right now so it is particular on devices and compatability issues--i was an early adoptor and it isn't fun.. i would check out logitech cams, they seem to work well but look for the vista compatible.. you may want to visit your acer website and see if there are any update or downloads for current users that now have vista.. hope this helps..

Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering technology Acer E-recovery - choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say extracting) - once extracted - click Install - click Vista on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the right side of the screen, click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions.

** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.
