Hi waddellwilli,
According to the Motorola website :-
Power on headset by sliding the Call button towards the microphone to initiate easy pairing.
After a few moments, the indicator light will be steadily lit in blue to indicate headset is in pairing mode.

Sorry, here is the revised instructions taken from the user manual; the web instructions were wrong.
To initiate easy pairing, power on the hands-free speaker by pressing and holding the Power button until the indicator light becomes steadily lit in purple. Then, release the button.
After a few moments, the indicator light will be steadily lit in blue to indicate that the hands-free speaker is in pairing mode.
